Seems to have resolved after the first advice anyone should get – Turn Everything Off and On Again.

If you are using the weaver theme (its excellent if you are not, well worth changing) you can fix this problem by going to Appearance/weaverII Admin/Advanced Options/Head Section and entering into the Custom CSS Rules box the following code :

padding: 0 !important;
}

I got back into the dashboard.

I renamed the plugins/backup folder and also the backup and backup_db in the wp-content folder.
Presumably I now change the folders back to their old names, and uninstall the backup plugin via the dashboard.

It is NOT straightforward. I can’t find a Calendar page anywhere, and can’t find any documentation that explains how to show or customise a calendar. Been on it for 1 hour trying to find some documentation or explanation for how to show a calendar. Ridiculous.
