Thanks for your reply and for clarifying.

My explanation didn’t explain the situation very well. I am happy with just three featured content blocks on the home page. Don’t want a grid. The problem is that for the “Recent Posts” that appear just below the featured content blocks, I only want to show three recent posts. However, the theme does not show a way to give a custom number of recent posts.

The site is set to private and I’m working on it for someone else so I can’t send it unfortunately. But I haven’t made any custom changes so it looks like in the demo.

Thanks, I’m actually not sure which one, as I usually just experiment to see what looks best.

Perhaps I should just start be making the current one smaller. Is there a CSS code to adjust the size?

When the file is updated, could I also lose the updates I’ve made under: Appearance –> Customize –> Custom CSS?

If no, is there a code I could just put directly in there for changing the turquoise?

(If yes, I better find someone to change the customizations I have already made there in a way that they won’t be lost.)

I think a child theme may be beyond my capability at this point. Though I should learn eventually.

Also, how often does a theme update occur?

I wonder if you can tell me the code to change everything that is turquoise in the DARA theme (menu bar, categories in the featured image slider, etc.) another colour? (I’m going to try an indigo blue to start). I haven’t made it public yet but in case this helps.

I regenerated the thumbnails for featured images now. Still not seeing “sidebarthumb” anywhere in the Recent Posts Widget with Thumbnails.
Not sure what I’m not doing right!

Open the file “functions.php” of the theme and add the line add_image_size( ‘sidebarthumb’, 200, 100, true );. Save, close and upload the file.

In the WP backend install the plugin “Regenerate Thumbnails” by Alex Mills (Viper007Bond) and run it once.

– I’m not sure if I did this correct. I uploaded the “Regenerate Thumbnails” by Alex Mills (Viper007Bond) and activated it. But perhaps I have to do something more?

On the Widgets page in the “Recent Posts Widget With Thumbnails” widget set the thumbnail size to “sidebarthumb”

I’m going to remove privacy settings from my site in next few days, so I’ll do that once it’s public. Thanks!
