Ok, good to know. I will stay with Contact 7 then, cause I am not sure that it is the form that is causing the problem.
Hmmm – Is it the Contact 7 form plugin that is the issue? Wondering if switching to a different WordPress form plugin would eliminate having to go through all this? What are your thoughts? The only reason I went with contact 7 is they offer a file upload button, which is something I need to have with the form.
I would prefer to use a free mailer. Does the email have to be a gmail email to use that? The email I am using is the website email which is [email protected].
I received the following error when sending the test email:
Heads up! The last email your site attempted to send was unsuccessful.
Email Source: Contact Form 7 Mailer: Other SMTP SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.
For more details please try running an Email Test or reading the latest error event.

In reply to: Excess space in widget above Flodesk sign in formThis did the trick. Thank you sooooo much.
I just went thru the process again to get past the error message.
In the Global Settings under “Authorized Hosts” I typed my IP address into the big box and saved it.
Also, above the box there is a check box that says “automatically temporarily authorize hosts” and that box is checked. I can uncheck it if I need to. Just let me know.
I have a screen shot of the page, but don’t know how to apply it to this chat.
I did notice when I went back, in one of the .htaccess pages, my IP was still listed as “deny”. I thought I had deleted it and saved it, but my computer has been slow, so maybe it didn’t get saved. It is saved for sure now. Maybe that is what was still causing the issue.
Well, it was working last night. I removed my IP from the Deny list in the htaccess files, and followed the instructions in your email. Then removed the code in the wp config file. I was able to get onto the dashboard and make all my changes.
I opened up the website this morning and am back to the 404 Forbidden screen. I am leaving on a trip today and won’t be able to work on this until I return. I will try again next week.
Thank you! That seemed to have solved the problem.
Much appreciated!!!

In reply to: Looking for Form plugin that doesn’t require domain name emailHi,
I’ve installed and set up the WP Mail SMTP plugin and selected the “force from” box, but when I try to complete the form and hit submit to see if the form is working I get the following message:
“There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.”
I tried the “Test” email in the WP Mail SMTP plugin and that worked. But I used my personal gmail to do the test as I didn’t want it to go to my client until I get this figured out. My personal gmail is also the “Admin Email” for the WordPress website.
The email I am entering into the “From” email box on the Contact 7 Form is my clients personal “.edu” email. That is the one she wants to use for all forms.
Any suggestions what I need to do to get this to work?
Thanks

In reply to: [OceanWP] mobile email link not workingok, thanks. That makes me feel better. I have an android phone. When I click on the email link on my phone nothing happens, but it does work fine on the desktop.
I added the following code to my custom CSS and it sort of works, but it’s really not what I wanted. I wanted the sidebar to adjust to each pages content height. This just sort of forces the issue.
.content-left-sidebar .widget-area {
height: 1200px;
}I just took the maintenance mode off. I don’t want it open too long, as it’s not ready yet. Would you be able to take a quick look?
Thanks
Ok, think I figured it out. I clicked on “Edit” page and then in the far Right column I changed the template from “Default Theme” to “Theme”. Now everything seems to be working.
I contacted the web host (bluehost) and they can’t seem to find any problems on their end. They cleared the cache and upgraded the php to 7.4.
It seems to be breaking just the home page. When Elementor is activated, the content hugs the top of the home page and there is no primary menu to try to go to other pages (theme layout is gone).
If I open dashboard, go to “pages” and select a different page such as “about us”, that page looks great, it has the header, menu and content and theme layout. It’s almost like the css style sheet has disappeared for the home page when Elementor is activated.
I have used Elementor on many of my websites. This is the first time I’ve run into this problem. I tried 3 different themes – still with the same problem, so not an issue with the themes.
I deactivated every plugin and the theme works fine. When I activate just Elementor, the theme breaks, so it can’t be conflicting with any of the other plugins as they are all deactivated.
Thanks
