In reply to: [Yoast Duplicate Post] Critical ErrorI managed to fix this after finding another post with the exact same error, and I’m sharing the solution because no one in any of the other threads I found did. This fix worked on all three of the sites I was testing.
This “Wpil_Model_Link” was the problem. It’s from LinkWhisper. I haven’t used that plugin in about a year. I removed the database tables it had left behind, but the error persisted. Then I had to search my database for “Wpil_Model_Link”. On each site’s db, there were entries for that in the post meta and term meta tables. After backup up the db, I clicked “delete” beside all those entries to remove them. The error stopped happening. Nothing on any of my sites appears to be broken, and I’ve looked carefully.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Yoast Duplicate Post] Critical ErrorHere are relevant entries from the error log. My host checked to make sure the problem isn’t on the server end. I’ve altered the site name for privacy.

In reply to: [Yoast Duplicate Post] Critical ErrorOn further testing, I’m finding this feature works on some posts but not others. I’ve ruled out that the age of the posts is the issue. Not sure what else to check.

In reply to: [WP Super Cache] Preload has been restarted (no email notification marked)I’m confused. That’s a Jetpack support page, and I don’t see a contact form, just FAQs and a chatbot. I tried to use the chatbot but it just said it doesn’t have any “quick answers” for me and to rephrase. I do need to keep the site private.

In reply to: Password protecting when I use Quick EditLooks like we’re on our own. Maybe we can compare some notes?
I’ve been using LastPass and Bitwarden when this happens. Do you use either? I thought it was LastPass at first because it autogenerates passwords and puts them into fields. But Bitwarden doesn’t do that – it only generates a password for you to copy and paste, and only on command.
I’ve had it happen in both Chrome and FF. How about you?
This is why I suspect it’s WordPress’ automatic password generator for new users that’s causing the problem and not another piece of software I’m using.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Scriptless Social Sharing] Adding new buttons not workingThanks Robin. If you scroll down to the WordPress (non-hosted) section, that’s the code I was trying to use. I was able to make it a working button in a block of its own, so I think it will work.

I saw your reply in another thread about Flipboard not making it possible – thanks for checking.I’ve shared my URLs via your contact form. On my most affected site, I definitely don’t have a cleaner plugin and haven’t in years, if I ever did. On the other one, I did install WP-Optimize a few months ago, just to clean up revisions and manually remove tables from plugins I’d deleted.
Thanks for responding. This is not an issue of anything the social media platforms do. This is all happening inside WordPress. My normal workflow on every post: I create separate images for Pinterest (100:1500 ratio) and for FB (1200×628 ratio). I was using the Pinterest images as Featured in WordPress, and then entering the FB shaped images into TSF’s social tab in each post’s editor window. But those FB images were later disappearing from the backend completely, as if I’d never filled them in, often along with the meta description which I always put in the search tab. I fixed some of them more than once, only to have it happen again. I’m positive they were in there at one time, because all of these posts have shown up correctly on Facebook before and only recently started posting with the tall images (featured).
I unfortunately cannot share a link in a public forum here. I could privately provide you with a link or even a site login if that would help. It might not because, as a workaround, I spent the weekend redoing all my sites so the Facebook sized image is the featured image in every post now. That way if my selection in TSF disappears from a post, at least it will still default to the right size. How can I get any support with this issue?

In reply to: [Scriptless Social Sharing] Please add Flipboard buttonI second this. I’ve tried so use the code sample from the FAQ page to add Flipboard, Mastodon and Yummly, but no icon ever shows. If I was enough of a developer to understand that code, I’d probably be able to just code my own social buttons.

In reply to: Password protecting when I use Quick EditThat’s not what I’m saying. First, this happens in Quick Edit, not the editor. Second, it’s not setting a password all on its own: it’s generating the password and putting it in the password field while I do other things in the Quick Edit box. Then when I hit save (without noticing it filled in a password), the post becomes password protected.
I believe I’ve ruled out everything but WordPress as the culprit because it’s happened on Macs and PCs, all different browsers, with all different password managers or none at all.
WordPress does have an ability to generate passwords for new users, so I assume it’s getting confused and thinking that’s a password field it should fill.Follow up. My host explained that you save the originals with the word “-unsmushed” in the name, and when restoring, you use those files to regenerate all the original, uncompressed thumbnails, and that’s why it takes so long.
Your page in my WordPress dashboards don’t show that the plugin has restored any originals, but I have confirmed that on the two sites where I ran “restore”, I’m not seeing an “unsmushed” images in the files on the server. I checked a site where I haven’t run restore yet, and I do see images with “unsmushed” in them. Is checking the server files for “unsmushed” the only way to confirm the plugin has finished restoring original files? It’s not on the site – it’s in my site’s error logs for PHP errors. I am now getting support from the website since I bought the plugin. Thanks.

In reply to: [Scriptless Social Sharing] Add Mastodon buttonI tried this again. I got it to make a button that just links to the Yumly homepage. But when I entered the Yumly base URL for sharing, Yumly disappeared in the plugin options.

In reply to: [Scriptless Social Sharing] Pinterest not picking up descriptionThanks for investigating and explaining all this. I suspected it was a Pinterest change, but I’m glad you’re able to confirm it’s not somehow just my sites.
