It worked! The morale here is simple. All the instructions should have indicated was that the file folder containing the backup would be created in the admin folder.

Thanks for your help and attention.

I found it. Boy, now I understand. Just be dumb when doing this. It was in the admin folder of the subject WP folder. I’m going to delete it and try again and be certain I have it figured out right.

Yes, I went into the folder via ftp. It’s blank. And the ftp stats say there are no files in the folder…a second check.

Made progress. Sort of. Got a successful backup, but don’t know what I got. Meaning this. The backup file created was: Backup_01.05.11-23.09.33_8a17ba.sql

But, where is it? I created a folder in the WP home folder called dbcbackups. The dbc setup said that was fine. But, why isn’t the backup file there?

Actually I had thought about that as possible. Don’t laugh, but I’m one of those computer users that tries not to take unfair advantage of their server’s capacity. You see, I have probably 75 active WP domains going (political party). But, since there is no real efficient way to do this, I will go with your suggestion.

If you know of any WP volunteer that would like to help Conservative Party USA as WP national administrator, let me know, samgallo at cp-usa dot org. Might pay some day.

Looks like DBC hasn’t taken into effect everyday computer users. Can you suggest another WP backup system that is automatic and has this “stuff” already worked out?

And I do appreciate your interest in this problem of mine.

Thanks, but I don’t understand…dumb me. What if I just wanted to copy the files to a thumb drive. I tried this for a thumb and it didn’t work; /home/computer/g:/ssbackup wasn’t created, check permissions. The permissions remark can’t be right because I changed the attributes to 777. I don’t want to open the files, just store them. This is an area new to me because I’m used to just using ftp to up and down files which is how I was backing up each the WP website. But, that’s slow.

    Any more ideas?

I’m new to this, but I can’t edit a page and get it to save. I keep getting the popup box that says that if I save with “Okay” I will lose my edit. And I do. How in the name of heavens does one edit a page to get rid of the canned WordPress text?
