I had the same issue, after updating to the latest Contact Form 7 release. The reason might be WordPress’ auto-p-tagging on the shortcut function, with which the single WPCF7 fields are rendered. I can imagine, that previous versions used “shortcode_unautop” or a similar approach to remove the additional p-tags.

However, I fixed it by adding the following CSS:

.wpcf7-form p:not([class]) {
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    display: contents;
}

same issue here, could (hot-)fix it by creating the missing(?) “index.asset.php” file inside the “contact-form-7/includes/block-editor” directory (without any content).

However, the new release does also mess with the shortcode espacing / auto p-tagging. Not that this can’t be solved with CSS, but surprising, since it’s not listed in the changelog.

I have no time anymore to support, improve and debug my plugins. (And i have still too many ideas) I have deleted the plugins, as they were no longer compatible with the new WordPress versions. Sorry.

Maybe i will republish a new version in the future, if I can befriend with the new back-end of WordPress 3.8. (I hate the new Back-End Design =\).
But I can not promise anything!

Due some problems I couldn’t support the project nor the server. But i’m back after a long long time.

The current version will not longer supported, because there are many bugs and safety deficiencies, BUT i work currently on the new version (2.0.0). It fix some bugs, integrate many new features and functions and improved i. a. the template system.

So please wait for the new version or use another PM System, if you want.

The new version will release in the course of next week. (Probably on Friday 06.12)
