  • Ok, so this is what I tried:

    On my local test site:
    – I did just as you said, I made a few changes to the related links, then navigated away without hitting update.
    – I tried it a few times with a couple different posts and it worked each time!!!

    On my live test site:
    – I tried the same thing, I made a few changes to the related links, then navigated away without hitting update.
    – This time nothing worked, nothing changed, no code or links were added. :/ :\ ??
    – I tried hitting update and then again, made a few changes to the related links, then navigated away without hitting update. Still didn’t add any links or related code.

I am happy to help in any way I can. I wish I knew more ways I could be of help.

I am not using WP Super Cache or anything like it. I turned off all of my plugins and the related links are still not showing up. Maybe my theme is doing something with the server wp cache, but I don’t know? I am using the theme Catch Everest Pro with a child theme.

I am using Firefox and Firebug. I am also using Chrome with the developer tools. The problem is happing in:
    Chrome 29
    Firefox 22
    Safari 6

I have been working on a local server until now.

Now, I installed the plugin on a live test site. I put five related links on this posts:
    https://stonecairnstudio.com/sandbox/JhamtseGatsal/hello-world/
And I put two related links on this post:
    https://stonecairnstudio.com/sandbox/JhamtseGatsal/help-us-find-more-sponsors/

I inspected the code and it isn’t showing any of the plugin related links code. Hopefully having it on the live test site will give you the chance to look into the code.

Let me know if you want me to try and look for anything, or try something different.

Hope your weekend camping was sweet!

Thank you for these updates. I’ve got to tell you how nice these new additions are.
The thumbs are perfect now, the clear button is a great help and the drag to re-order is a huge benefit, it is so quick and easy to re-order now. These are BIG improvements! Great work, Thanks.

I did run into a bug:
    – I added two related links to a post. Everything worked beautifully. I was also able to go into the settings to reformat a little of the css. Worked awesome.
    – Then I decided instead of just two related links at the end of the same post I wanted five. So, I went back into the post editor to add three more related links, everything looked great in the editor. I was also able to reorder them easily (very nice addition by the way). Published, then refreshed the page. The additional three related links were a no show.
    – I cleared my cache and cookies, published, refreshed the page, still not showing.
    – Deactivated and re-activated the plugin, the five related are still in the admin post editor, refreshed page, still not showing.
    – Re-installed the plugin, the five related are still in the admin post editor, refreshed page, still not showing.
    – Deleted all of the related links, published it this way without them, hoping to clear something out. Then added the five related links back, published, refreshed page, now there are no related links showing. :/
    – Reset all the css to the original, in the settings, saved changes, refreshed the page, still no related links showing.

    What do you think?

Good to hear, thank you for adding the clear button and thank you for looking into the giant thumbs.

Any word on the possibility of adding a check box on the settings page, something like “Add links to Pages,” to make it possible to go into any page editor it in the admin and have the “Related Links Blender” tools be there to be able to add and edit related links to pages. Adding the related links feature to pages would meet my biggest need. Any other feature request I mentioned before would be just be nice to have, but not essential. Making this plugin work on pages as well, would be completely awesome!

Thank you for all your hard work.

Thanks for not forgetting. I understand what you mean about being busy.

Oops! Sorry, for the confusion with the links.

    Thanks for considering my ideas.

As for #2, do what you think is best. I totally understand wanting to have fewer controls.

I had that idea for an edit button because it seems less often that I would want to duplicate all of these (image, title, text, link, link alt) and more often that I may have missed a word, or something.

If I am missing a word, or something.
Steps to using the copy button:
    1. click “copy.”
    2. add the missing word.
    3. click “add link.”
    4. click “delete” of the old link that is missing the word.
    5. potentially reorder the new link.

Steps to using an edit button:
    1. click “edit.”
    2. add the missing word.
    3. click “add link.” Or, maybe “save”? (done – no deleting or reordering needed)

In the end you are the pro of the code. I have no idea what it would take to accomplish something like this. You know best.

One last feature I forgot to ask about.

Could you also please add a check box on the settings page to “Add links to Pages.”
It would be awesome if I could also use your amazing tool on pages as well.

Thank you again for your hard work on this nice plugin.

    Hi Stephenblender,

I like this plugin so far, can’t wait for it to be released non-BETA. It seems simple to use and edit the css, both are big wins! Thank you for your hard work.

I do have this bug in my back end, these items over lap.

    I have a few feature requests ??
    1. Can you add a “clear text” button, by the “Add Link” button, to clear the text fields.
    2. Can you add an “edit” button, by the “copy & delete” buttons, to edit the already added items.
    3. Can you add a “graber” button (not sure what they are called) a kind of button that lets you drag and drop the already added items, to make it easer to re-order them.

These additions would be really sweet!

Here is a link to an image of a design mock-up that I quickly created to give you a better idea of the feature requests I am talking about.

Thanks again for an awesome plugin.

@jason – Thank you for this help.

If I put the bawmrp_more_content filter in my child themes functions.php file it should it be modifying the plugin? Is this the correct place to put this filter? I could never find anywhere that talked about this.

@jason – I have a little knowledge about adding filters to my functions.php file in my child theme. Do I also add bawmrp_more_content filter to my functions.php child theme file, or do I do something different to customize plug-ins? I’m new to customizing plug-ins. Is there info in the codex about this, you could point me to?

Thanks for any help you can offer.
