second blog ? are they placed in such a way they can conflict each other ? Use a complete different database as well as different folder to install the new blog..

I am not sure the reason.. but I can suggest a workaround..

1) Backup the wordpress post in XML (not the database) from tools –> export
2) backup the database and all your files ( for the sake of convenience)
3) Now, delete all the files and database and install a fresh copy of wp
4) Import posts using the xml file from tools –> import

I have tried Divine.. but it is not working.. I will give the exact error here, in this forum.. but that didnt work for me..

you will find that URL in the file ..

you need to use some plugin for that.. there are many available..

same database? Did you change the prefix? If not, it wont install..Eitehr use different databases or change the table prefix from wp-config.php

are you having fantastico ? Did you install any script before? If yes, then you will need to remove some files created by fantastico..

ok, here are the steps:

If you want to use wordpress MU( I would suggest you to check the codex before),
1) Export your posts for your existing blog: tools –> export
2) Take a back up of your database and files
3) remove the blog and install wordpress MU (I am not sure of it works on local system)
4) You may need to setup a local domain
4) Import your posts from tools –> import
