1) Backup the wordpress post in XML (not the database) from tools –> export
2) backup the database and all your files ( for the sake of convenience)
3) Now, delete all the files and database and install a fresh copy of wp
4) Import posts using the xml file from tools –> importForum: Fixing WordPress

If you want to use wordpress MU( I would suggest you to check the codex before),
1) Export your posts for your existing blog: tools –> export
2) Take a back up of your database and files
3) remove the blog and install wordpress MU (I am not sure of it works on local system)
4) You may need to setup a local domain
4) Import your posts from tools –> import
