I replaced the date field with simple text fields instead for the time being (meaning until i know how i can do the date field and have it work flawlessly in all browsers) Takayuki.

I think that entry “step:7” caused the calendar showing in Chrome to enable only the 7th day in each row to be selectable.

Unfortunately the instructions are a bit sketchy on your page, meaning it is probably all clear and logical to you since you know this stuff very well, but to the average Joe or Jill with little understanding of PHP server side functions and how to correctly call them so it works in all browsers it’s to short to grasp.

I have now tried some of the variables you describe at the date field page.

But ….
1. the min and max dates as in
[date* FerienstudioAbreise id:FeSt-Abreisedatum your-date class:y2008 class:m01 class:d01 min:2017-01-01 max:2043-12-31 step:7]
is a weird solution because at some point in time the max date will have to be manually changed, in my case i set it so far in the future i am probably dead by then, isn’t there a way to just set max date to infinite or so??

i still get “tt.mm.jjjj” as watermark date entry default, did i make a mistake in the code – well, actually the popup calendar in Chrome is now no longer working right, also not with just

I am a bit clueless here, what is still wrong??

I am not sure if those pages under the same domains are the issue, i, for instance, only list main pages (hence the pure domain name only) and still get to many of these forbiddden messages.
If a site changes from http to https the plugin will always alert in the redirects section for me.

It seems though there are no updates coming anymore for this plugin, or maybe the plugin owner feels this is not the problem of his plugin but rather of some server side technology issues as many hosts try to go along with Google’s push for more secure websites overall??

I believe i tried a few of these image optimization plugins, but none that required some external API / server signup, because i have gotten a bit more cautious about these types of plugins after one of my WP sites )hosted elsewhere, not Bluehost) got hacked and badly infected.
Not saying it was necessarily such a plugin with additional off-WP API or server services, but anyway, burnt child avoids the fire as they say.

I can not recall the plugin names i have used right now, it was 2 or 3 of them, but once i had run them to optimize all the images and than tested my site again at GTmetrix i saw pretty much the same result, meaning whatever “optimization” was done did not do anything or enough to satisfy the speed tests.

The other problem (i find) is that the more Plugins you use the more issues with speed and scripts slowing the site down can or do occur …

But, the main idea is to bring WP into this new “age of speed” (as defined by papa Google) in a way that also none coders can maintain their websites with ease and still rest assured their site isn’t going to compete with virtual snails because they have no clue how to go about all the tricks of keeping images “Google friendly” etc. and that is better addressed directly by WP itself as it would be in their own best interest overall.

yet, the problem has solved itself in a very odd way … i had to log myself out of my wp-admin, clean out my Chrome cache, log myself back in – eh voila, everything was fine again.

But, if i can address a important general issue with WordPress right here i would like to bring it up.

the new rat race craze in the virtual world, raised by Google, it has a somewhat negative effect on WordPress sites especially because we believe we got all bases covered, but we just don’t.

The issue with thumbnails that aren’t real thumbnails but just the original heavy and slow loading original images minimized with HTML – no onger a good thing … we know are back to the neanderthal of images (while camera manufacturers keep on improving their products to give us better images Google wants us to display crappy skinny stuff again), we need to scale down images especially for thumbnails before we even upload them to our WP sites, and most often we don’t even know to what size the theme will want them.
A bit of new technology to actually physically minimize thumbs to their smaller appearance also to an accordingly smaller file size wouldn’t be bad at all.

Why would anyone ask WP for this??
Well, because we wwebmasters can do this work around – but our clients can’t, we deliver WP solutions so the client can change contents incl. images on their own, as simple as writing an email – that now falls apart with Googles complaints about to heavy images everywhere, so WP is no longer “easy and viable” in that respect.

Also, i learned about stuff like exif and GP data in each photos code that can be stripped out to minimize loss-less – the technology to do that exists already, see Google’s new INBOX email system, so why not bring it to WP as well, so even none techie clients can upload their images worry-free again without fear of slow loading times and thus probably some bad SEO rap in the process.

The other thing is the “optimization” of all the scripts, as i understand it Google wants us to produce CSS etc. without empty lines or unnecessary white spaces so their robots can run through the endless code faster .. really, but we humans have to read through it when editing, so we better lay it out as we do, in a clear and esy to overlook way, but some things like “above the fold” could perhaps also be addressed by WP in due time??

I wrote this down because this came up as a result of above problem.
I contacted Bluehost support and they told me everything is fine with my shared server package, it’s just that i have not optimized my WP site – and i have since, put all the nerdy stuff into my .htaccess file and manually changed all original file size thumbs to manually scaled down images and used GTmetrix optimized images for the rest, so the site speed has significantly improved – but i just think this should become a prime focus for the WP techies to work on – make WP faster from the ground up!!

with their mobile friendly tool, same result as with my static html sites, it runs fast to about 50% and than ULTRA fast to the finishing line, in other words, there’s to much “stuff” that has to be rendered with WP sites for sure!

I did my test searches while i was logged in to wp-admin and had the plugin set not to count admin and editor activities .. duh, no wonder there’s no counting, it only occurred to me later, in the middle of the night, when i woke up from a nightmare, and i tested it this morning without being logged in and, of course, it works just fine!!

The only thing that odes not seem to do what it is supposed to is the PRIORITIZE thing.
I have set title to 10 and description to 1 (from the initial 1 for title and 10 for desc), but it still does not prioritize (Example, most used search term “f1”, shows Ferrari F1 as title still below the other entries where F1 is only in the description.

Oh, now i get it, there is no PayPal thing mentioned on the form itself at all, bummer, that’s one thing you SHOULD and MUST mention in your description or installation info for crying out loud!!

It looks just like any regular contact form – but once the send button is clicked it goes to the PayPal payment page, so the plugin works just fine, but the contact forms need a note put in place somewhere that points this out CLEARLY to the user, somehow i am surprised no one thought of that as part of the plugin already, or at least as bit of info to the installation, eieiei

I just installed the current version an hour ago and WP says it is compatible with my latest WP version, also gone through the plugins settings and checked the “Enable Paypal on this form” box in the contact form 7 plugin settings as well as entering an item description and price – nothing from it to be seen in the forms code and nothing in the front end, looks like you have some issues with this thing, how can i resolve it please??

To all and anyone using WordPress trying to get their site Google mobile friendly and run into the same trouble i did, with a (not seen before, because it’s hidden by default by WordPress for reasons i can not figure out) botched robots.txt that blocks Google’s bots from properly rendering your site, meaning WITH access to style sheets and js files, here is the really simply resolve:

threw all these extra disallows onto my robots.txt file, so beware of that plugin, as good and nice it maybe otherwise, it sure has no clue about Google spider bots!!

Of course, if your Google mobile friendly test returns complaints about not being able to access css or js files it may not be the only plugin that dumps strange access denials into robots.txt (for that matter it would be nice of WP to make this file visible in the future so we could all go straight there to check what’s going on).
It could be any other plugin.
The old fashioned way to find out which one it is …
DEACTIVATE one after the other in an order you suspect it could be and check after each deactivation whether the DISALLOW in robotos.txt (which you can always find easily online by going to yourWPsiteurl.pom/robots.txt ) is gone or not yet, until you got the culprit.
Don’t worry, the deactivated plugins will not need to be completely set up new again once you re-activate them, so this process is no big pain but will most likely solve any Google access issues.

No, nevermind, it’s the only thing i can say in Dutch ….

Anyway, nope, i can not look into the script at all because my site is hosted with a strange German host who is so far the only one i ever seen removing the “Edit” option that gives access to all the theme or plugin scripts, i would have to FTP into the server and get the entire plugin out of there to look around it.

Database, that’s one tad above my income level – i mean my techno level, i can refresh or repair a database (because these are just one click operations) but beyond that i rather not try, i might mss something up.

So, i just hope you will soon find the time to erase any bugs because you would be the only one offering a free version with multiple calendars, all others just offer one lousy calendar in ther free version, so you could find yourself a nice niche if you get the thing to work flawlessly…

The error saving happened when i tried to save a new booking, so the beginning and end date where entered plus all the other data.

If this is a problem with WordPress you probably have to write the code around this problem rather than WordPress going to write their code around your plugin.

I just read some reviews of Jetpack’s omni search, no match for Google’s custom search.
I tried the lot of plugins, no satisfaction.

So, just because it’s the day before Christmas, which seems to good day to push hopeless hopes (!) i’ll try to layout the functions of a WordPress specific search function that would deserve the term “search”.

1. from any search box, anywhere on a WP site, a search would always end up at the exact search term match INSIDE whatever page or post or even comment (rather than a search page template first) it’s found at and the search term would be highlighted.
.
2. If there are multiple matches in multiple pages, posts or comments those would all be lined up on the traditional search results page, but not like they are now – often not even displaying the actual search phrase so people still search blind -.
WP would fetch (and highlight) the search term PLUS the paragraph or sentence around it and display this underneath the post, page or comments title.
People reading these relevant short info bits would perhaps already there and than get the desired information, if not yet they could click on the highlighted search term and go to the specific page or post or comments thread as under point one explained and read the complete article / content of page.

Well, i’ll keep on dreaming, but as they say, before something new is created someone has to dream it up first!!
