Here’s a trick that doesn’t solve the problem directly but helped me to go in the right direction with the utmost confidence. Run a speed test on your site at GTmetrix.com and look at your report card and check your score for the “Leverage browser caching” line item. If you received a low score, for example a D or F, call your hosting company ASAP and let them know. If they know what they are doing, they’ll “get it right away” and purge the cache on their servers and whitelist your IP address. It may take a few hours after they do their thing but that solved my “Connection was reset” error. FYI – the report card has a lot of other great info that has proven useful. Tech support at GoDaddy turned me onto the site and said it is a WP designers best friend. Good luck!
