1.) Just some clarification. The bot is only required for channel posting, not the widget. To show the join server button the plugin has to see a url returned from discord. Please make sure that you have selected an instant invite channel. in the “INSTANT INVITE CHANNEL” section. (See screenshot) https://ps.w.org/wp-discord/assets/screenshot-1.png?rev=1579918

2.) There is not currently a way to change layout of the plugin. You should be able to overwrite with your own css if necessary. I will have to do some testing and see if I can replicate that. If in it’s own layout container the widget should flow naturally within that container. I will look into this.

PHP 5.3 is no longer supported. Supporting anything lower than 5.6 exposes security vulnerabilities.

I do not plan on supporting 5.3 or lower. I apologize for the inconvenience.

The plugin uses what WordPress gives back for get_permalink function.

Error was due to a configuration issue.

After doing some testing I have discovered that this is an issue with PHP version 5.3 and below.

Oops the follow widget is from wp discord. My apologies was on my phone earlier.

I would prefer fixing the layout issue over hiding the button.

Is there a particular button from another plugin that it’s bumping into?

EDIT: I see it’s pushing down the follow widget button. It’s styling seems to be distorted too.

It could always be a conflicting plugin, theme, php version, WordPress version.

Any of those details would be helpful if you know them.

Hard to know for sure. I will need to test Instantwp and if I’m able to replicate your error Maybe I can figure out a fix.
