Save version and same problem here – affecting a number of widgets.

Greenshady, thanks for the Widgets Reset plugin, but it’s giving a fatal error, below:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Warning: require_once(/home/.server/rossjamesparker/rossparker.com/public/wp-content/plugins/widgets-reset/settings-admin.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/.dennis/rossjamesparker/rossparker.com/public/wp-content/plugins/widgets-reset.php on line 39

I second this – for many quick mapping needs, I don’t want to have to manually find a location from a world map – just to enter a postcode.

I found this post while looking to do the same. Tips appreciated.

Thanks grahame, this solution worked for me.

It’s a great design – but then you knew that didn’t you? Logo especially. Nice.

Good God – that is quite the ugliest site I ever did see.

Kubrick is much nicer looking than ‘Classic’, especially if you don’t have the time to play with layout or you want to spend that time adding content (gosh!). On the other hand, I hate the way that Kubrick uses a large header graphic instead of some clever div layering and that it uses an image file to give the menu its shaded background. I’m a bit of a CSS die-hard, you see. When I have the time, I plan on making a simple but attractive theme for WP that isn’t so graphically reliant.

I imagine that he means he would like to install WordPress in https://www.example.com/wordpress and then call the posts up from the main root index https://www.example.com/index.php. Which is obviously do-able. Furthermore, there are cases in which it would be handy. If, for example, you wanted a lot more static pages and content on your site that the new v1.5 PostPages features allows, you may want a WordPress blog to be a part of your site, rather than taking it over. However, you may want the latest post (or two) to come up on your site’s main (root index) page. Something like this, in other words. In fact, I am currently toying with this idea.

The problem is, it isn’t something that can come as an out-of-the-box solution in blogging software. After all, the only reason you would use it is to give you more site layout flexibility than WordPress (or any other) publishing tool allows. So building it into WP would somewhat defeat the point. The bottom line, andrewsprout, is that you can call posts (or any WP data) from any (PHP) page on your site, in any directory. You just need to write the database retreive functions into that page’s PHP code.

Like it. I do like rounded corners.

My old host has MySQL 4.1.7 running (compared to the new host’s 4.0.23-standard) so that could be an issue. It’s a damn shame if it means that the export/import is affected though, because aside from imploring my new host to upgrade their mySQL, there is very little that I can do about it. Does anyone know of a work-around?

Unfortunately, I am having a similar problem. I am moving hosts and so I backed up my SQL database to a ‘.sql’ file and then tried to import them again on MyPhpAdmin on my new host. I have followed all Wiki/Codex instructions to the letter and have repeated the process about four times. Always I get the mySQL error:

#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near "DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=23" at line 28

Now, I am not a mySQL guru either, but I can’t see for the life of me what in line 28 is causing a problem. For info, the first 30 lines of my ‘.sql’ file are here.

    Line 28 is

    ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=23 ;

Oddly, I can use my new host’s cPanel/Fantastico to install a new copy of WP1.2.2 which works fine: except that it hasn’t got my previous posts. If it is not possible to import these through SQL because of this error, perhaps I could get them in some other way? Would the one-click restore plugin help? Can I import from CSV or XML?

    My new host is running PHP version 4.3.10 / MySQL version 4.0.23-standard / cPanel Build 10.0.0-CURRENT 52 / phpMyAdmin 2.6.1-rc1 .

    Thanks in advance.

I like this site. It’s the best book-type blog I have seen. I’m not a huge fan of the style, but this is a great example. Maybe if all book blogs were this good I would change my mind.
