Hi Patrick,

That is the problem.

The mbstring Php extension was not installed. So I used the following link
https://www.electrictoolbox.com/mbstring-php-extension-not-found-phpmyadmin/
followed the instructions and that sorted it out.

Ok, so I reinstalled the PHP and I still get the same problem.
I also installed the earlier version of PHP (the version on the site that is working) and I still get the same problem.

I have also deactivated all the plugins and no difference.

Not sure what else it could be?

The site that is not working is running the following:
WordPress 4.9.8
Running PHP version: 7.0.32

The site that is working is running the following:
WordPress 4.9.8
Running PHP version: 5.6.36

We have Events manager on one of our other sites, setup exactly the same and that one works.
