In reply to: Selecting BLog name other than usernameHello Andrea. In the signup page https://blogonity.com/test/wp-signup.php , it only ask to enter a username and email, and it says password will be sent to the email. Their is no option to select their own password and blog id.
What settings should be changed?

In reply to: Selecting Blog name other than usernameIn WordPress 3.0.1, I read in the codex page that, by adding define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true); will make it a network. Is it so?
I check the option for selecting the desired name, but couldn’t find it.

In reply to: User ManagementYes.
Is this answer for my first question or about the second one about themes?

In reply to: Possible to "hack" or "destroy" WP network?Normally, only SuperAdmins can upload or edit themes and plugins – unless you have done something or installed a plugin to alter that behaviour.
“Out of the box”, WP3 multisite requires no additional security to make it safe. The capabilities which cause worry(editing themes/deleting users etc) are automatically removed from Administrators and reserved for SuperAdmins when activating the Network.
Still, be wary what themes you do install, beware those that allow unfiltered html/php to be saved in theme options.
So I have a question. When installing WordPress MS, we create an admin account. Is this the superadmin?

In reply to: User ManagementAlso, Suppose that I have installed a certain number of themes, and I don’t want users to upload their own theme, instead can use the themes I upload. Does this work?

In reply to: User ManagementAs with reference to ‘movingwithshadow’s’ question, I would like to ask another question.
I am starting a blog network, in which users can register an account, and create blogs. It is not “multiple authors for ONE blog” .It is “individual/multiple authors for individual blogs”.
My question is … I would like to enable users to chose their own theme and plugins. I need a certain plugin, for example ‘status’ plugin to be activated by default in all blogs, and I don’t want the users to deactivate it.
Is this possible.?

In reply to: Converting to WordPress multiuser under current condition…I suppose, if it’s not hard to move drupal, I’d shift that from public_html to public_html/drupal and install wordpress right into public_html
For this, should I just rename the ‘public_html’ to ‘public_html/drupal’ ? or do I need to copy whole contents to a new folder and rename it to ‘public_html/drupal’ ?
As for making it multisite, I believe it’s an option when you install WP for the first time.
May I know whether ‘multisite’ is similar to multiuser, in the sense, anyone who wishes to join can register in the website, and create posts as the author?
Or is it just a network of websites?Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Converting to WordPress multiuser under current condition…After reading the above said tutorial and all other sites I went by Google search, A doubt came in my mind. None of the websites explained where should I install WordPress?
Thanks for your help. I have a doubt. Suppose that I have installed Drupal in “public_html” folder of my hosting account, and also there is a database named ‘Drupal’. If I wish to convert it to WordPress, where should I install WordPress? Is it in the same folder as Drupal or Should I install in some other folder.?
Can you please explain.?Also, how to make the wordpress installation ‘multiuser’?

In reply to: Converting to WordPress multiuser under current condition…You probably WON’T be able to port the theme over entirely ?? and if you have a lot of drupal sections (I forget what they’re called, been a while) you may have to copy paste some things over manually ??
Can you give me some details about transferring the data together with the users registered.

In reply to: Converting to WordPress multiuser under current condition…Yeah, I read that codex page, but there is nothing related to importing the users and the site theme.
