I’ve successfully installed subdirectory WP3 Multisite on dreamhost
I suppose the problem is with subdomain install.

DAMN!
wp-config.php – lines were at end, moving them in middle of the file did the trick

Webhost = dreamhost
.htaccess = freshly brewed, there wasn’t any
