Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Permalinks. 404 errorsJust had a quick google on cache and CDN. I just have a single virtual machine serving up pages from a couples of small sites, all run off of apache2 with some virtual servers set up in the host files. Not sure there is any caching. Its straight from the server I think.
Does this answer your question ?
Thanks
Rob

In reply to: Permalinks. 404 errorsBots are getting pretty good if I can be mistaken for one.
Or maybe I’m not a bright as I thought I was…. ??Definately human, or close anyway.
Not sure what you mean by server cache/CDN. Where can I find this info ?
Thanks

In reply to: Permalinks. 404 errorsHi
Thanks for the reply. I have placed that post in a catagory but still seem to get the 404 error. I assume the mod_rewrite is working on the apache side of things though….
I have also changed the permalink setting to /%postname%/ as suggested with the same 404 error. Not sure how the theme or plugins affect things. Could you elaborate ?
Thanks

Gonna give it a go and ignore the forum for 20 mins. Back when a few more posts pop up ??

Perfect.
Thanks very much for you help.
A thank you to Esmi as well.
I now have a custom version of the twenty-eleven theme that displays comments on the front page but the ‘reply box’ is not shown. To reply I just click the link and up it pops on the post page.
Thanks both of you for your help.
Rob.

In reply to: Wootique Sidebar sizeI have just installed it. I’ll need a bit of time to get used to it. I have no idea when it comes to CCS/HTML etc. I can do a bit of C, but web programming is all new to me. It does look like it could be very handy for tracking down the code to adjust though.
Thanks for the tip.
I’ll have a play and see what it can do for me.

In reply to: Wootique Sidebar sizeSorry. I’m a tart. I misunderstood and shrunk the image down. DOH!!
The image was so thin when I edited it I didn’t realise it was white and grey. Just thought it was the grey bit. Will edit a new image and upload.
Thanks for your help.
