I think in newer versions of next gen, the slideshow size is determined in the settings – I tried the code you used and nothing showed, but it worked fine using just [slideshow id=1] (insert number of gallery you want to use!)

Otto42 I can figure it out and get it working. I was making a point that a lot of people won’t.

Also, when you come to the first page on the wordpress site, it says “Download 2.1!!” It doesn’t say watch out this might break your blog, it doesn’t say, stay at 2.07 if you want for now, it just says the latest stable version is 2.1 and encourages people to download it.

With so many upgrades to 2.0 recently, I know a lot of people who just upgraded to 2.1 thinking it was another necessary update for security as well as extra features.

Sure it will all get smoothed out in the end, I just see a lot of people spending a lot of time fixing broken blogs after (apparently misguidedly) installing 2.1…

Thanks for the link – I have managed to make all my links display randomly, but it looks complicated to try to make different categories do different things…

I can’t even do what I want in the default WP theme provided, without going in and editing code. I could point and click last time, now I have to edit code.

I’m talking about customising the way link categories display, btw – I have been given a page with a load of tags I can use, but as far as I can see, I even need to edit the code of the default template to use these template tags, the option to change these settings using a link category edit kind of function is gone…

Going from point/click to editing code is not a good step forward for a lot of non-techncial end user bloggers.
