Perfect! Thank you. ‘… → Works list – Title bar → Top/bottom padding’ was exactly what I needed. It solved the problem.
Thanks again!
No worries, Air.
This customiser solution brings me back to where I started with this, actually. I used to have the setting that adds top padding to the outside of the title bar, but it seemed to result in a rather huge text area at the top of the page. Is there a simple way to reduce the amount of padding? If there is, that will finally solve my problem. ??
Hi again. ??
I mentioned earlier that I had tried the Elementor widget, but that was working even less well. I think I should save us both some time and stick with the Works list page that I created in the first instance here. All I really wanted to do was add the sentence instructing users to click on images to read about them, but it seems to be too time-consuming to get that right. Instead, please could you tell me what option I need to select to ensure that the menu bar at the top does not interfere with the page title?
Many thanks again for your kind help! ??
Hi again. ??
I tried to do what you said and use the Page layout settings to accomplish what I needed, but could find no means of doing this. That’s why I resorted to using the Works List template. But ok, I have undone that now, and you can see the page here utilising the default Page template. To accomplish what you see, I used the following short code:
[a13fe-post-list type=”work” orderby=”title” posts=”50″ columns=”3″ filter=”0″]
The problems with this are:
1). The image thumbs appear in the horizontal centre of the page rather than full width, and they have spaces between them (I want them to appear in the same way as you see here.
2). The sub-title appears above the title (it should appear below it).
3). The sub-title is in all caps, and I need sentence case.
4). Both title and sub-title are left-aligned (I need to centralise them).
5). There is a white background, and I would like no background except behind the title and sub-title (as here).Warm wishes,
Robin
Thanks, Air.
Following those instructions and using the shortcode (the widget for listing Works did not work properly: see here), I was able to get the thumbs to appear on on the page, but I was unable to get them to appear across the full width of the page. There was a large amount of empty white space to the left and right on a wide-ish screen. I also found that the subtitle was shown above the title (it should be below), and in caps (I need lowercase). A screenshot is here.
I do at least have access to the panel of ‘Page details’ options now. Within this, I entered the subtitle I wanted inside the ‘Title bar’ section. I then set the template to ‘Works list’ under ‘Page attributes’. The thumbs now stretch full width, but the subtitle I entered is not appearing. You can see the page here. What can I do make the subtitle show?
Thanks again!
Thank you, Air. In that part of customizer, I see only these options. I cannot see a means of reducing the height of the dark background behind the page title, nor a means of adding the subtitle “Click any image to discover its backstory.” How can I do these two things?
Hi!
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I don’t have those options for this particular page, which is one I edited from a Rife template (it seems to be a ‘Works list’ template). This is what I see in WordPress. Clicking ‘Back to WordPress Editor’ doesn’t bring up the regular page options, either.

In reply to: [Rife Free] Button on slideshowHi Air. Am I correct in thinking that this description can only appear under the images, not as overlays on top of them? As I have a full screen slideshow, this would not work for me, sadly.

In reply to: [Rife Free] Limit to album imagesHi Deborah,
If I remember rightly, they just pointed out that I’d not copy-pasted the URLs correctly. Sorry I can’t help any more than that, I hope you manage to resolve your issue!
Warm wishes,
Robin

In reply to: [Rife Free] Image appearing as a squareSorry, this turned out to be a caching issue on my side. I’m happy for you to delete the question from the forum (I can’t find a way to do that myself).

In reply to: [Rife Free] Lightbox spacingMany thanks indeed, Jarret. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to have worked. I have deleted both browser and site cache (and I don’t have a CDN yet), but these measures did not cause the CSS code to ‘take’. Do you have any ideas as to why it might not have worked?

In reply to: [Rife Free] Limit to album imagesSure, I’d be very happy to! I’ll do that just as soon as I’ve finished getting my site ready for it’s “Hello world!” moment! ??

In reply to: [Rife Free] Limit to album imagesMany thanks for your speedy response!
I corrected that, then deleted and re-added the images and updated both the album and my homepage. Sadly, the issue remains. I also tried another browser, but it’s the same.
Thank you.
My hosts responded, saying “The max_execution_time set to 600 which is the highest. Normally the shared servers would have 30 sec, so 600 should be more than enough.”
I have reduced the backup archive split limit to 25MB, as you suggested. I’ll see how this goes, and revert back here should there be any further problems.
