In reply to: When your server is down, how can you show visitors SOMETHING ….Just a postscript on this one … when the server is down I get an email … unfortunately I can end up with thousands of them if it is a major issue.
But, it is better to know about it than not …

In reply to: When your server is down, how can you show visitors SOMETHING ….Wow, thanks, I have now created an error page that I hope will never be triggered.

In reply to: problem with Google custom search engineAre you using the php text widget or similar?
You should also try adding the code to a basic html page (outside wordpress) first, to see if it works.

Otherwise I would suggest trying “WPtouch Mobile Plugin”.

In reply to: Can't Customize ThemeIt should work; do you have something fancy like a featured slider selected for the front, with no actual content assigned to it?

In reply to: Image size on website fluctuatesIt looks like the pics are going to the full width of the space available .. there will be a setting somewhere – maybe under the CSS of the theme? – that is making this happen.
Maybe when putting the pics up you should size the horizontal pics to be, say, 500 pixels wide, and the verticals 300px, which would help the desktop viewers.
On the upside, it’s very mobile friendly!

In reply to: problem with Google custom search engineHi there
I am not sure if I am picking you up correctly, but you need to have the search code on a page, say, named “Search”, and the search result code will go on another page, call it “Search result”.You will need to add it in html mode, then save and don’t re-open it as the code can scramble.
You can also put the search code into a widget; you may need to have a plugin such as “PHP Text Widget” for this to work.
Good luck!

In reply to: convert static site to use WPI think you would need to import all the pages into the WP framework.
Otherwise you would need to create a custom CMS and tweak some of the php files.
You could try using an importer to WordPress-ify the site; but as it’s not a large site I’d say it would be easiest and quickest to do it manually.
