  • Hi, new poster here,
In a similar vein to k.gray’s request for a surname index, I’d like to filter the person index page by surname. This is because obviously anyone else researching either my mother’s or my father’s family lines won’t really be interested in the other. I’d like to put menu items in the main header menu one for my mother’s side and one for my father’s side, but I think this would be standard WordPress stuff once I have a way to filter the person index page e.g. by passing criteria via a shortcode.
Also, I have read that in the current WP version categories cannot be assigned to pages – only posts can be categorised. It seems in WordPress when dealing with lists of things posts rather than pages is the intended approach. Page categorisation may be implemented in the future. In the meantime, I wonder if it would be possible (or even appropriate) to have RootsPersona use Posts rather than pages? That would mean k.gray’s requested name index could comprise a category list, each category being a surname.
    RootsPersona is great!
