This might be related to NextGen not working on WP 4.1.1.

This problem was solved when deactivating the sitepress-multilingual-cms plugin (3.1.8.4).

I have the same experience, and after some digging it seams like there is some issues with the CSS in the iframe.
the body-tag has:

visibility: hidden;
opacity: 0;
