I have spoken to the Theme author and they say it’s coming from WordPress.

I will go through my plugins and disable the theme and find out what’s doing it.

So, if I put this code ”’–output”’ into a code block and it merges it into a single dash.
If I just put ”’–output”’ between

 tags the dashes are maintained. 

If I put the dashes in between any other symbols like (---output) the dashes are also retained. 

Even this forum does it!!

To recreate it, within a post I add new syntaxhighlighter block

put in my code,

However I have discovered in your example if I put <div>a–b</div>

The dashes are preserved

In my code I need to display –output and in this case it joins them together

I select html as code format?

OK Thanks, website auditor is saying too many redirects could indicate to google the site is poorly managed.

I have not seen any issues but just wondered if they coudl all be deleted.

If this is standard wordpress then I will leave it.

Yes 11.6 did resolve the issue, thanks!

However i will also add then when running 11.5 if I used Firefox Yoast meta box worked fine – with 11.6 it works fine on Chrome which is what I had the issue on before

I have 4.98 and Yoast 7.9 – disabled Gutnberg and I still have blank Meta Title and description in Yoast?

Disabling Gutenberg does not work for me, still blank meta title and description box

So the same as me, theme has been running for years with Yoast with no issues

Disabled theme and changed to Twenty 17 and still the same, I have another site with the same setup and this one is fine.

I am getting the same issue with the Yoast box being blank no snippet preview and not able to change Title or Description

I have disabled all plugins and just enabled Yoast and it does not fix the issue
