Cannot change language, I only get a FATAL error message

  • Fellow WordPressians.

    I just set up a fresh WordPress system. I would prefer to have my system in my mother language (Icelandic) and thus became very interested when I stumbled upon the plugin WordPress Language. I follow the instructions, uploaded the plugin via FTP to the server but couldn’t get it to work. When I press the flag in the admin bar in the top region of the screen I get an error message something like this:

    Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Exception’ with message ‘Failed downloading the language information file. Please go back and try a little later.’….

    Has anybody had this error before or is more accustomed to the WordPress platform than I am who can help?

  • The plugin downloads the translations from the internet, so you need to have a wordpress installation that can access the internet. Some configurations dont allow this.

    Can you check with your hosting provider?
