SOLVED

I was able to fix the problem by deactivating all but the BuddyPress plugins and got rid of the ones that seemed to be causing the issue.

I forgot to include that the version of WordPress I’m using is 6.1, and the version of BuddyPress is 10.6.0. And I’m using theme twenty-fifteen.
