Thanks for the help folks.

The former proprietor of the webhosting company has suspended everyone’s accounts and fled to Greece, it appears some people are stuggling to recover their domain names.

The server is up, but I cannot log into my plesk, or via ftp to recover files and the company is uncontactable.

Oh well my own stupid fault really

I have even tried in different browsers and the colours have remained unchanged.

I am wondering if this is a permissions thing, but nothing in wordpress is saying that. Also I am not great at html and that so not really sure where in the php files I could make this change manually.

Well found out what the problem was, due to the complicated file sturcture provided by my webhosting company.

All sorted now.

Right and I have just checked I dont even think there is a .htaccess file. I tried creating one and pasting the text from the dashboard message into it and uploading to the wordpress root.

Nada, it still says the .htaccess file isnt writable. I have tried changing the permissions for this created file to 666 and even 777 and wordpress still cannot write to it.

What am I doing wrong?
