In reply to: Line spacing and clickable linksThanks dude!
The link is a link to another page on the site such as:
https://sandandseahomes.com/properties-for-sale/lot-1170-m2-l119/
so I’m obviously entering plain text.“Paste or type the URL in the pop-up for where you are linking to
Click Add Link”
I don’t see a pop up when I’ve highlighted the text. Where is it supposed to appear?Shift/Enter not working, neither is pasting from Word or Notepad. The text looks fine until I View Page.

In reply to: How do I make new Categories appear in drop downs?Andrew:
That was it! Not menus exactly but I found the code containing the drop down values in the Listings Page Template.
It makes sense that the author would have made the drop downs part of that template because they appear on all Listings pages, then he’s just switching out the content to the right.
I think all I have to do is create a Category and then add it to the list(?). I’ll test it.
Thanks!

In reply to: How do I make new Categories appear in drop downs?Someone else made the site for me so I don’t know anything about it.
I can create New Categories just fine, but they don’t appear in the list.
I don’t want to create new drop downs because:
* I wouldn’t know how to get rid of the existing ones
* pages are already associated with values in the existing drop downs
* I wouldn’t know how to control the placement of the new onesI was hoping some genius could give me a way of finding out where/how those drop down values are stored. If I knew that, I might be able to store a new value the same way.
Could I find a drop down value by searching the back end for a unique string?

Thanks, that looks good – how would I associate a custom menu with existing drop downs?

That looks like a solution but I wouldn’t have the first idea how to create it all.
I’m a novice with WordPress and still confused. I’m afraid of creating something I don’t understand or can’t control as I want.
I don’t mind creating three completely separate sites with separate WordPress installations if that gives me the best understanding and the most control.

In reply to: How do I change themes? Thanks – I didn’t realize it was that easy.

In reply to: What's possible if I want to change my theme? You sound like the guy to know!
I’m completely out of my depth with all this so despite the awesome post (thanks!) I don’t think I’d dare try it. I’m sure to bungle something important.
Here’s my dilemma:
sandandseahomes.comIf you go to Properties for Sale and open ‘Lots El Sargento’ everything looks more or less ok – but I’ll soon have 2 or 300 under that category so the site will have a list of meaningless numbers on the left and nothing at all on the right (as you scroll down).
I’ve been thinking of buying this:
https://gorillathemes.com/demo/smooth/But I’d want to get rid of the grinning realtor and get my current look and feel into that functionality.
Am I dreaming?

In reply to: Post doesn't show upYes, I marked it resolved. All posts are showing.

In reply to: Post doesn't show upt-p:
It was set up by a friend and all he said was that a variable, relating to number of posts per category, did not contain a specific number and therefore the default (5) was used.
Therefore the 6th and all subsequent posts were not displayed.
Once that variable was set to infinity, which I think is a value of -1, all posts were displayed.

In reply to: Post doesn't show upI found out what was causing it. There’s a function which defaults to 5 if not set to a specific number.
Thanks to all – rev

In reply to: Is there a limit to how many?Solved it. There was a function that was not set to a specific number. When it’s not set, it defaults to 5.

In reply to: Post doesn't show upDeactivating plug-ins made no change.
I’ll try the renaming trick.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Post doesn't show upHow do I deactivate plug-ins? I think I only have one, how would I know?
I’ve only been playing with this for two weeks and I have to admit I don’t really understand it.
That renaming trick, rename it, rename it back?
btw: I’ve noticed that the Category count is correct, i.e.
Properties for Sale (6) (but only five appear)Maybe that’s helpful, maybe not.
