In reply to: Upgrade to 2.2 – Dashboard not workingThe first-mentioned modification to the .htaccess file did fix the Dashboard feeds problem and the “can’t load this page” problems with saves, but I still cannot publish a new post.
Hmm, just double-checked my dashboard, and it says the post I’ve been trying to publish is scheduled in 10 hours!
I had to go into file manager from the cpanel, change the chmods to 755 and edit from file manager to make that change.
I have not tried the ‘file’ modification yet to see if that will fix the publish problem.
<Files index-extra.php>
SecFilterInheritance Off
</Files>The comments seem to work fine, even before the .htaccess modification.
Whoa, thanks for all the advise. My panic is subsiding.

In reply to: Dashboard News Feed Not WorkingSame thing here, the lttle boxes and news feeds headlines all gone.
as well as not being able to publish an article or post, and not being able to even save anything, without the message
“can’t open the page “…wp-admin/post.php” or “…/wp-admin/user-edit.php” because it could not load any data from this location.Deleting two lines (or commenting them out) in config.php did not solve anything.

In reply to: Edit and save problems with Upgrade to 2.2now cannot save or publish posts. probably more things wrong. My webhost absolutely refuses to acknowledge any problems on their servers that might contribute to the problems.
Yet it was their ‘ghost in the machine” that started all these problems.
Noticed on various sites, tracking ‘BUGs’, etc, that this version of WordPress 2.2 is full of problems.
Whey did they release it if that is so???
Somebody hates us users and wants to drive us insane!

In reply to: Edit and save problems with Upgrade to 2.2MichaelH,
I did change the two lines (commented them out) in that file, but that did not resolve the issue. Do I need to totally etrase them?
And the same save problem for any other changes, like user info, any edits, or saves.
Maybe I need to change some chmods?
All these upgrade instructions are very confusing. Erase files, keep files, empty database, back ups.
sorry if I use the fantastico loader, but I am too swamped by all these instructions that seem to be like a MAZE! and I didn’t have any problems with fantastico before.
Thanks for your courtesy and advise.

And DGold, I’ve been noticing your problems and following them too. I hesitate to upgrade my other WordPress install to 2.2 if I’m going to have more problems with it.

In reply to: Why is it all in Swedish? But why is it all in SWEDISH?
All my MySQL databases are in swedish. I don’t get it.
And you waited too long to warn me, moshu, cuz I did attempt a change. I was in a panic. and I can’t change it back.
And now Safari won’t save anything unless you save it twice. and each time safari responds with this:
“Safari can’t open the page “https://blog.talesofkingtut.com/wp-admin/post.php” because it could not load any data from this location.”
Same goes for updates to anything. save it twice, it takes. but still responds with a similar message.
I deleted the two lines, in the config.php file, but this did not resolve the issue.

In reply to: Why is it all in Swedish?Resolved! This was not MY Mistake!
It seems there was a “Ghost in the Machine”
SiteGround found a “Kernal” in our machine (?). and fixed the problems this morning.
I can now access my WordPress Dashboard. after getting new password, which was sent. BUT I still have a messed up login page, and there is no way to get the login.php from the 2.1.3 version now. there is a fantastico backup but I do not know how to extract the file I need from it to upload it. And on this site, the fantastico panel does not have wordpress 2.2 available yet. It is on my other site (?), same host.
All that grief for nothing!
I still don’t know why my wordpress MySQL database collation is in Swedish!?
both of them. And I went on the mysql forums and site to investigate. There is some problems with the wrong language set. But… I didn’t manage to change anything.
Too wierd:

Siteground users have been complaining for over a month now. some fixes were done, but more problems kept arising. Like my not being able to login to one part of the website, the blog subdomain.

In reply to: Why is it all in Swedish? But, moshu, I didn’t make the ‘collation’ in swedish.
And my mysql database the collation listed is in swedish in every category. folder, directory
‘latin1_swedish_ci’So how did that get there? I didn’t do it.
that is why I am asking.
I followed exact instructions on how to restore admin. Most plugins are disabled or deactivated by renaming each one through my File manager.
I had to take a break to actually work. so will finish that up now.
I’m not even trying a backup restore in the database, until I thoroughly understand what I’m doing.
I read and reread instructions, look at files, compare, long before I actually try a change. Spend hours on the forums and with the very confusing documentations…
Before I even post a “STUPID” Question.so why are so hot under the collar?

In reply to: theme suddenly messed upThat post link has been corrected.
Theme is back in place. other scripts and adds may have been messing it up. much has been removed. But now cannot login to my Dashboard.
so cannot remove questionable posts with questionable code and scripts.the login page shows up but when you try to login, safari cannot load the page
my webhost has backed up the blog, but the problems remains.
access to mysql thru phpadmin
All user admin code is there as it should be.
except language has somehow been changed to ‘latin1_swedish_ci’Is that the cause of my login problems?
This all started the day the theme messed up.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Login Page blocked or emptyI already messed it up. reloaded a ‘fresh wp-config.php” and it was from an older version, so the page is f@#$ed.
but have gone round and round with support from siteground.
and gotten just about nowhere.
I cleared cache several times as I stated above. restarted. cleared a lot of cookies. not all.
and what about that language thing in my phpadmin?
why swedish? how did that get in there?Had NO problems with siteground until they got attacked about a month or so ago. now all kinds of things, email problems, now spam in a once spam free account.
And the wordpress editor sometimes won’t save.
Now can’t login.Read others probelms, with the new version 2.2, and upgrading to solve a similar problem didn’t help.
so before I try to do it on my own, (manual) I’m trying to fix the access problem.
Support said they could see login, so can I, just get that Safari message when I try to login:
Safari can’t open the page “https://blog.talesofkingtut.com/wp-login.php” because it could not load any data from this location.
and when I try login with Firefox, get a totally blank page, with no code in the source.
Same thing on our other computer, another mac OSX 10.4 firefox and safari.
Been checking out Tom’s page MacHouse.maybe one of my visitor’s comments.

In reply to: Upgraded to 2.1.3 – edit pages problemWell, no response, My Update:
My webhost did a restore from backup. issues still existed. But went through my plugins deactivating them one at a time, found one that caused mucho problems, the Social Bookmarking plugin.got my themes restored. reactivated plugins one at a time. had to rebuild my sidebar.
this has taken all day.Still have some issues. but deleted the post with the feeds. How did they get in there?
And redid the post. and it finally saved it right.so I didn’t have to reinstall.
but some of it was caused by my webhost, “maintenance”? huh? This has taken 15 hours to correct.
Whew!
Hope this helps anyone with similarForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Upgraded to 2.1.3 – edit pages problemOnly slightly fixed.
I found one problems from the social bookmarking plugin. Have deactivated it. fixed the looks of the template problems.
And my webhost and restored the site from a backup.
The editor is still giving problems. The post will not save the new edits. and does not show them in the site. Also when you go to try to edit it. the edit box has all the RIGHT content and coding, but it is not showing up in the preview or the post.
And the posts are getting mixed up, particularly the one I am having trouble with
“Widgets Wadjets Whatnot”, it seems to adding part of another arbitrary post to that one.I don’t know where to go to check what’s happened. and fix it.
Do I need to reinstall WordPress 2.1.3?
Addition: when I save the post, it saves, the right code and content is in the edit box, but the preview cuts it off and add two codelinks rss feed and trackbackurl show up, which never happened before:
[q]And then there’s the Blidget, you can see that on my –>MySpace Page. Blidget makes your blog into a widget, and easily installs it for you on Myspace, or other blogs. RSS Comments Feed | TrackBack URI{/q]maybe that’s where the arbitrary partial post that is added on the front end is coming from. the feed?
