  • Hey, just checking in to say a similar thing happened to me – sorry I’m too tired to sort out the differences right now. Bottom line is that on shared hosting with a (Let’s Encrypt FWIW) cert active, installation got as far as extracting the Duplicator files from the archive, then failed with a 500 error. After reading this post I decided to try installation again with the cert turned off and lo and behold it worked! So I installed the site, then reactivated the cert, added and ran the Really Simple SSL plugin, and everything is now perfect. I’m happy to share details if it would help, or post this to a new thread. Thanks @corylamleorg for a great plugin, and thanks @davidsandbrand for leading me to a really easy solution.

I came here because I was having the same problem, a progress bar stuck at 0.

Then I realized the plugin is actually working, just not *reporting* that it is working. At least with a single file test.

It moved the file per my settings, registered it in the Media Library, and created the thumbnails. When I went to select the image to add to a post, the filename appeared but with no thumbnail. The thumbnail did not appear at first in the featured image section of the edit page either, although it now does. I saved anyway, not very optimistically, and was pleasantly surprised to see the image appear in the post.

I wanted to post this good news before I give it more of a workout with multiple files. ?? Hopefully this solves your issues too.

I am using the most recent version, 9.91.

Update: the same thing happened on a second site. Again, many “post updates” from the WF scanner but this time there are also a couple of other IPs that also appear to have published stuff. Again, nothing actually published. So it’s looking less like a WF issue, I think. I just wish I knew what it’s looking more like lol. I have no idea.

The theme I use (Elegant Themes’ Divi) ships with a bunch of page templates; the notifications said they were all being published but none of them actually were. Very strange!

I went the uninstall/reinstall route. Would still like to know what I missed. Just to be clear, I had set up the dev site as a mirror, so there was no moving/copying of files, just the SQL edits.

Well. I *was* missing something obvious.

I’ll just be moseying on into the install around midnight and moving it to root, then. After a look around to see if there is any downside to a root install to consider.

Thanks, since I can move the install, it’s resolved for me.

vkaryl: the “static” pages still need to pull in the dynamic WP sidebar (and header and footer).

whoami: thanks. It’s on IIS shared hosting so no mod_rewrite or .htaccess.

It sounds like the answer is: it is possible but requires a lot of kludging at the present time, like you it’s more work thsan I’m willing to do. Perhaps someone can be enticed to develop a plugin. ??

One question: you said “given where youve installed WP” – would throwing it somewhere else (into root?) make a difference?

    Thanks!

Thank you. I feel better now, knowing that I am not missing anything.
