Hi @blazk
I think I found the source of the problem (at least on my installation): It was an old version of the Complianz plugin.
On the real site I still had Complianz 6.0.6 installed, but on the staging site I already had upgraded to Complianz 6.1.0.
When I downgrade on the staging site to Complianz 6.0.6 RateMyPost breaks again and vice versa, when I updated my main site to Complianz 6.1.0, RateMyPost started to work again.
So at least for me it seems to be a problem with Complianz which was already fixed in their version 6.1.0.
Hi @blazk,
I hope this helps debugging this issue: I have the same problem on my site: https://immoprentice.de/welchen-einfluss-haben-die-zinsen-auf-die-kaufpreise-von-immobilien/. The last time it worked was on the 22.01.2022. I do have a running autoptimize, but just deactivated it and could still reproduce the problem.
If I can send you any debug files from RateMyPost, tell me and I’ll try to get the files. I really like the plugin and it’s a shame that it is not working at the moment ??
On a staging site of mine, I run the same theme and the same version of RMP and much of the same plugins but can in fact *not* reproduce the problem.
If it helps: I noticed that the hover effect when you hover over the stars also does not work.
Thanks and best regards
OliverHi @aahulsebos,
thanks a lot, that indeed did the trick!
Thanks for the quick help!
Best regards
OliverI check using the Chrome extension “Facebook Pixel Helper” and check if the “PageView” event has a warning or a green check mark.
On https://really-simple-sandbox.com/facebook-pixel/ everything now really works as expected. On my own test site, it *did* not.
However, now, after changing some settings in the plugin itself, it is also working on my installation.
Here is what I had to change to make it work:
1) Switch my category style (Opt-In / Category) from “Accept / Deny” to “Accept All + Categories)
2)Reload my page and explicitly deselect marketing cookiesNow everything works as expected, even when I switch back to the old “Accept / Deny” style.
Looks like with the whole upgrading / downgrading / switching to develop created some issue with the classification of the Facebook cookie (marketing vs. technically necessary) on my installation. I will keep an eye on this.
So thank you very much, I think the problem is now fixed, and I look forward to installing the 4.6.3 release on my production site ??
I just re-downloaded the new plugin code and installed it, but the behavior is unchanged. It still ignores my cookie choices.
If you want to see for yourself: I am currently running the latest version at https://ebesucher-test.mycryptonodes.net/
Thank you for your quick reply! The new version regrettably does not work 100%. The pixel now activates *every time*, even if I do *not* accept the cookies. So with this version, the site would no longer be GDPR compliant…
Hi @aahulsebos,
I just checked your page. It actually also shows the problem: Accept the cookies and all is good. Refresh the page or go to a second page and the pixel no longer gets activated.
Hi @aahulsebos Aert,
I just created a little video showing the problem on a test server of mine. There I also did another test by only upgrading / downgrading the Complianz plugin to show the effect.
You can find the video at: https://ebesucher-test.mycryptonodes.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/20200527_192749.mp4
Here is what you see in the video:
00:00: I started with 4.5.2 installed and had all cookies accepted. The facebook pixel tracks all page views
00:10: I then reject the marketing cookies and the facebook pixel no longer tracks the user
00:23: Visiting other pages still has the pixel not tracking the user
00:33: Accepting all cookies again makes the pixel again track the user
00:40 When changing to other pages, the pixel stil tracks the user on the new pages
01:20: I then update the plugin from 4.5.2 to 4.6.2
01:50: Refreshing the page, shows that the pixel does not track the user
02:20: Accepting the cookies, the pixel tracks the user
02:30: Going to another page, the pixel does not track anymore
02:55: Accepting the cookies again, the pixel tracks again
03:10: Changing the page, the pixel does not track any more
03:20: I roll back the plugin to 4.5.2
03:45: Refreshing the page and the pixel tracks the user
03:50: Changing the page and the pixel still tracks the user
04:00: Another page change and the pixel still tracks the userHope this helps
Best regards
OliverHi Aert,
I am afraid I did not properly understand the second part of your answer. (How should I check …)
I know the Chrome extension and actually used it to double check the problem on my page. When I visit the sample page you provided, I neither get a Complianz banner, nor does Facebook pixel helper show any pixels. Is the page already fully set up?
Best regards
OliverHi Aert,
thanks for your quick reply. Yes, I do use other services like Cloudflare and Autoptimize on the page. However, today I rolled back the plugin to 4.5.2 (no other changes) and the pixel works again. When rolling back to 4.5.2 I also kept all of Complianz’ user settings (especially the scripts) unchanged.
I also tried disabling services like Cloudflare and Autoptimize with 4.6.x but that did not seem to have any effect.
If I can do anything to help in debugging this issue, please feel free to ask. Are there any debug files I can activate?
Best regards
Oliver
