In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Missing backupsIt was configured for two, but I’ve since changed that to 10. But it seems odd that old ones were there and then there was a gap with nothing – in both Dropbox and locally.
The Existing Backups tab shows the same as Dropbox – so, the one I did this afternoon and then seven from 2015 up to May 2016.
There seems to be an error with the log file, but I’ve copied the text. Not sure about pasting a link to that anywhere public…I’m very squeamish after today!!

In reply to: WordPress 3.9 seems to have removed ALL my imagesThis morning, thumbnails showed for the 50+ posts on my site, but all the posts had the blank boxes with the name of the photo that should be there. I went through them one by one (500 pictures) and used the Replace button, which restored the original pictures. A terrible chore, but it worked.
I’ve now, though, accidentally found what the issue was. The URLs for the photos had suddenly lost the / (slash) that should have been in wordpress(/)wpcontent.
I’d like to know how this disappeared (upgraded to 3.9?) and whether there was a simpler way to go back and restore all the missing slashes to repair the URLs.
Hate this sort of confidence-knocking thing. It happened to me even worse on the last upgrade. That time, I had to actually re-upload every photo.

In reply to: Images not displaying after upgradeThanks, Jan. I can’t check that now, I’m afraid, because – as I say – I’ve re=uploaded and deleted all the faulty images. Perhaps someone else having this issue could try this and let us know.
I’m doubtful, though, because I tried to view the image in all its forms, not just thumbnail. Going to the image attachment page returned a 404 too.

In reply to: Images not displaying after upgradeI’ve uploaded all my images again and deleted the ones that were blue-boxing, but I did try what you suggest before doing that and I got a 404 message. Have a look at my theory in the previous post. Do you think this might be where the problem lies?
Although I’ve laboriously re uploaded and attached all my images (because I couldn’t leave the site looking so shabby), I’m nervous it will happen again.

In reply to: Images not displaying after upgradeI have a theory (though bear in mind I’m a bobble-hatted amateur). There’s an option in media settings to store images in folders based on month and year. I ticked that a while back and then changed my mind some time later. That means that some images would have been ‘loose’ in the uploads folder on the server and some in folders. It might explain why some, but not all, of my images disappeared after the upgrade – though I can’t exactly say why!!
It doesn’t appear to be anything to do with incompatible plug-ins or with the theme.
I’ve reloaded all the lost images and added them back into posts (a seven-hour job) and they seem to be working now, but it isn’t an answer for anyone with lots of posts and images.
