That fixed it. While I did not do anything but copy and past the field data into another field, the System created the “hide” by default. It seems that “show” option needed to be saved (again).

Previously, I had even removed the data from each row and column and replaced it with simple “1” and “2” and “3” and “4” in the different fields, saved, and that still showed the all pink shading.

Glad the fix was so easy. Thank you again!

TobiasBG kudos to you for building Tablepress!

I am having a similar problem and hope the below info might shed some more light on the situation.

I’m running WP 5.4 and the System auto-updated to Tablepress to 1.11. At that point everything was working fine until I changed one of the tables. There are only 6 tables, and all of them have just a few cells with minimal data.

When I changed that 1 table, the table data in the table editor became shaded pink without any error message. No Preview or saving of the page would change any of it.

    Things I tried:
    – deleted Tablepress v.1.11 and reinstalled. That didn’t fix it.
    – deleted Tablepress v.1.11 and reinstalled v.1.10. That didn’t fix it.
I do believe the problem is NOT with Tablepress.

    Thank you. Nifty resource!

The errors were for both GET and POST, as
“Failed to load resource: net: ERR_CONNECTION_RESET”.
I took screenshots but am unfamiliar with how to post them in this forum.

As an aside, I thought perhaps the cache plugin was conflicting, but removing the minify CS and JS, deactivating, and even uninstalling the plugin, had no affect.

It would seem the Netgear router is indeed delaying the data packets and the server is timing out.

Thank you. When I disable WF, from behind the Netgear router, all of the problems with WP go away. When I put my PC in front of the Netgear router, but with WF activated, all of the problems with WP go away.

It is definitely a Netgear v. Wordfence issue, and quite likely precisely what you have described with js/css files.

Netgear’s updated browser console no longer features any “console” or “network” tabs. The only logs supported are access by IP and MAC address with time, date, etc.

The Netgear Nighthawk is not a true pass through router for directly wired computers.

It seems that conflicts related to the .php executables as used by the Wordfence plugin is incompatible with the Netgear Nighthawk R7900P router, such that the server times out and WP Admin pages don’t render properly.

The specific problem is that upon logging into the WP site, the Admin panel is gone and replaced by a blank white page with only menu links on the left side. All links are slow to resolve, and interactive hover features are gone. Certain updates to Admin features are also timed out.

Unsuccessful strategies to fix this so far, have been:
    1) Netgear: updated router firmware
    2) complete wipe of the WP site and drop the entire SQL database, fresh install and including all updates
    3) static IP assigned by ISP
    4) ISP increased allowed serve lag time for time outs
    5) Netgear: Advanced>Setup>LAN Setup>+Add address Reservation>assigned unique IP to the PC
    6) Netgear: Advanced>Setup>WAN Setup>NAD filtering> disable SIP ALG
    7) Netgear: Advanced>Setup>Internet Setup> tried both static and dynamic Internet IP Address and Domain Name Service (DNS) Address changes/options
    8) Change WordPress themes

Thank you Sir. I just did.

Also figured out the problem in the meanwhile. It is entirely the fault of the proxy settings and internal (unchangeable) firewall settings of the Netgear Router (X6S, Model R7900P). The router was delaying packets. While my hosting company was willing to allow longer delays, that improved but did not fix the issue entirely. Only upon removing the router from the equation did the problem entirely go away.

After spending hours on the phone with various customer service reps. for the ISP and hosting and Negear, resetting the router, disabling NAD, dedicating a static IP address, the only fix was to return the router to the store for a full refund.

I notice a file exception Options, to be excluded from scan, now appears for wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/GeoIPv6.dat. Is this correct to allow the exception? I only found it while perusing files with potential malware, and so I’m inclined to delete the exception unless the exception is intentional and originating from WF.

    Please advise…

^… true. But also making wp-admin a prohibited URL that causes an automatic block, is a great feature. But remember to whitelist your own IP address.

I don’t know, but in general I have seen many compatibility errors with versions under 5.0. There are also a lot of backdoor intrusion risks with older versions of MySQL.

Try the other options before considering MySQL upgrades (which might require creating a new database within a newer version, and migrating tables).

    1. If you’re able to login to your Admin page, then go to Plugins, find WPS plugin, select Settings, and verify the URL. Copy and paste it into a new tab/window and retry the login. If that doesn’t work, then…
    2. Disable all other plugins to see if there is a conflict. If that doesn’t work, then…
    3. Reinstall WP in case a file became corrupted. Also, run a fresh Wordfence scan to verify no files are infected that might be causing a conflict.

What version of SQL is your server running?

    Matt

    (@reallymattgray)

To do it on your own is not recommended due to the potential of incompatibility issues (i.e. with plugins). But there is a plugin to mask your login URL and change it to a custom one you prefer. WPS Hide Login works well, although the one problem is the “saved” password feature shows the asterisks, but actually requires you to click and select the saved password each time.

Noteworthy issue for the scan line:

the file “2005.12.htm” is one of the files listed in the
“Exclude files from scan that match these wildcard patterns”.

Am I required to put an asterisk (*) in front of the file name for the exclusion rule to work?

Good idea. So, I turned off every plugin except for WF, and the same problem reoccurs. Keep in mind I increased the max memory usage to 450 MB.
