1. Remove the sitemap. Save.
2. Remove strip category. Save.
3. Add sitemap. Save.
4. Add strip category. Save.

Check link 420friendlysite.something/category-sitemap.xml

Still 404?

This seem to be a thread close enough to my problem. Would prefer not to start a new one. Better if we add it up so Yoast sees it ??

Before using Yoast WordPress SEO I used another SEO-plugin together with a dedicated sitemap plugin. Since Yoast has both SEO and Sitemap I deinstalled the other one.

I was very happy to see the “Strip category base” setting. I don’t see the reason to have “category”, especially since my site is in swedish. Anyway, I activated XML-sitemap and went to bed. The next day I was randomly browsing my site and realised all my categories had a 404. Panic! But saving the settings again solved it.

It’s not until just now I figured out how it works. Whenever I press “Save Settings” in XML-sitemap the category base comes back. I have no idea what relation they have but at least I figured out what caused it. Hopefully there’s a fix to this soon as I’m getting a bit paranoid when I’m using the plugin now. Everytime I save I have to check the site to see if it’s broken.

Permalinks did it. I didn’t change anything but just saved it again. Now it’s like I expected.

A little change, I moved the blog to:

And two more questions:

* I now see that when I post, the date is in the following format: “oktober 9th, 2006”, in swedish that would have been “9 oktober 2006”. How can I change that?

* Now I also see that at the title of my post is says “Medberoende.se >> Blog archive >> F?rsta posten”. I’d like the “Blog Archive” to be in swedish if possible.

You were correct, I’d downloaded the ISO file. Now I used the UTF and it worked like a charm. I only have a couple of more issues.

1. There’s still a couple of translation problems. For instance it says “No Comments ?” and not “Inga kommentarer” as it supposed to. Is there a file I can edit manually to fix this?

2. When someone wants to leave a comment there’s some translation problems as well. The word “required” is not swedish… ?? How can I change that?

3. The section Links (L?nkar) seems to be random. The links are scrambled every time you reload the page, how can I decide which one is going to be on top?

4. The section Meta is unnecessary, how can I remove it?
