This would be a pretty useful option to me personally. I know Import Users from CSV plugin lets users specify a role on import, but that plugin isn’t nearly as feature-rich otherwise.
If you don’t mind my suggesting, keep the drop-down control to assign a role to the imported csv, BUT if “role” exists in the csv, allow it to be used instead.
