Hi Tobias
Thanks! That was exactly the problem. I’ve even been able to switch wpDataTables back on and both tables plugins are working. I’m just not going to risk using them both on the same page.
Cheers

Hi Tobias
Here’s a page where the JavaScript Datatables aren’t working. I’ve enabled searching on this table, but the search box isn’t showing up on the frontend.
I’ve currently disabled the wpDataTables plugin, but it somehow still seems to be affecting my TablePress tables.
Will you need access to the backend to look at this properly?
Hi Tobias,
If I find a good solution, I’ll make sure I post back here again. I’ve added a #wpDataTables tag to this thread as well.Hi Tobias
Thanks for replying. I think the problem may be because I’m trying to use wpDataTables as well as TablePress on my website. This was working previously quite well, as long as I didn’t put a wpDataTables table and a TablePress table on the same page. Unfortunately, I’ve now lost all the search/sort/hide columns capabilities from all my TablePress tables across the whole site.
Unfortunately, even disabling wpDataTables hasn’t sorted my TablePress tables out, so it looks like I might have to do a fresh install of WordPress and start again ??
…so the moral of the story seems to be: don’t even attempt to use TablePress and wpDataTables on the same site.
Thanks for taking a look at the problem, though.
Hi @duncanbetts
“I found my full server path in File Manager in cPanel.”
Any chance you could clarify how you did that? I’ve got SiteGround hosting too and had this exact problem. I tried to work out the full server path but I couldn’t work out exactly what that was.
Could you give me a few clues how to work it out? I have some technical skills…, but not enough to figure this out clearly!

In reply to: how to eliminate google-fonts totallyAs a general tip to anyone following this thread, and adding to what Evan said above:
Use a text editor to do a multi-file search for “fonts.googleapis.com” in all your plugin and theme files. This will flag up all the instances where Google Fonts are being called.
How you stop them being called? That I don’t know, unfortunately. But at least with the multi-file search above you can find out if you have them anywhere.
The only plugin I found on my site that calls Google Fonts was Automattic’s Jetpack. I think it’s a big mistake to see Automattic doing this and I wish they’d stop. WordPress’s values are (or should be) completely irreconcilable with Google’s when it comes to privacy and personal data.

In reply to: how to eliminate google-fonts totallyHi weirdrat,
I’m also trying to get rid of Google Fonts entirely from my site. This plugin disables Google Fonts from the WordPress 3.8 backend:

Hi Liang,
Thanks for answering. Yes, that’s the idea exactly. Ideally I’d like to be able to create a pretty long set of flash cards, and then extract subsets from that long set.
Best wishes,
DanielJust to update:
Version 0.9 is working perfectly on Synthesis hosting with the new curl() function.
Thanks, Liang! ??
When the flashcard plugin wasn’t working, I switched back to my old hosting company. For now, I’ve decided to remain with my old hosting company, so I can’t actually test out the updated plugin on Synthesis’s hosting.
Is there anyone else on Synthesis hosting who could test it out?
Thanks so much, Liang. I’ll try it out and post again once I’ve checked if it works.
…Just to explain a bit more clearly:
The Flashcard plugin doesn’t seem to be able to access the csv files, perhaps because it’s using the exec() / exec.php or url_fopen functions (mentioned above) to do so. My web host doesn’t allow these functions, as they’re a security risk.
Hope that makes sense? I can explain more if needed.

In reply to: [Flashcard Plugin for WordPress] Upper case…If my tweak doesn’t look right for you, just increase the 100% value a bit, e.g. to 125%.
