As you have mentioned, it happened because of the auto update. You must try deactivating all plugins from cPanel of your web hosting.

Also, try clearing the cache of the website.
If that works, great. Otherwise, you may contact your web hosting customer support if something is wrong on their server side.

You should try checking the folder permissions for UPLOADS. It should be 755.

Otherwise, you should try deactivating all the plugins.

It happened today only. I haven’t updated any plugin, not the WordPress version, nothing. How can it happen automatically?

I know that but I have been using the custom permalink structure for years now. They suddenly reverted to the post name. I mean how?
