In reply to: Caption separating from thumbnail imageThanks WPyogi, that is the approach I was taking – but it introduces a new problem, it takes away the paragraph break/ line space at the end of the paragraph within ‘<div style=”clear: both;>’. Can’t seem to make it leave a line between it and the next paragraph..

In reply to: Center site title and menu – Twenty Eleven child themeThanks, yes I’ve found several suggestions for how to do it, but none of them quite work for me. My lack of CSS knowledge, but it’s not for want of trying.

In reply to: Center site title and menu – Twenty Eleven child themeSure, I will try on that forum, but looking at the number of unsolved queries for people trying to implement this for WordPress specifically, I think it would be worth having it available here too.

In reply to: Center site title and menu – Twenty Eleven child themeThanks Esmi, I do use Firebug to help me locate elements on the page, and I’ve used it to map out the structure around the title and menu to try and solve this, but my knowledge of CSS is limited, so I’ve spent a lot of time over the last few months (!) trying to perfect this, but can’t seem to grasp it…

In reply to: How did someone find my site, if no inward links?I meant that I haven’t linked to the sites from anywhere else (while I am working on them, before making them public), therefore I felt that it would be impossible for anyone to find them unless they knew the specific URL where they are located on my server. Google used to rank pages by how many links (what I’m calling ‘inward links’) there are to a site – the more people linking to your site, the higher the ranking. I also thought that ‘spiders’, ‘robots’, search engines etc wouldn’t be able to find a site if there wasn’t a bit of ‘web’ – a link from somewhere else – to connect to it. But clearly, I am behind the times ??

In reply to: How did someone find my site, if no inward links?Hi Ipstenu,
In the case of the sites I mentioned, they are folders off my main domain, not new domains – if I posted an HTML page on my site with no inward links, I wouldn’t expect it to be found; is it something specific to WordPress that the site identifies its presence elsewhere? There’s a ‘how’ here which is I guess the question ??
