And yeah I agree, they are actually useless. (And for the “why” of the setting working on new files only it’s a mystery only the core-team may answer I guess. Do you know by chance whether there’s already a ticket for this in the issue-tracker?)

And what you mean by redirecting? Common 301? Or is there a setting in WP for that?

actually “hosting” was a hint in the right direction.

As it was storage was running low due to a rogue setting in backup retention.

I assume I’ve unintentionally circumvented the problem with your update while doin’ some manually install/uninstall in the process so it worked for that particular site.

Anyway thanks and perhaps it’ll help someone else also ??

Thx for the workaround. Do I understand this correctly that your filter disables lazy-loading for css-bg-images only and leaves lazyloading for all other images untouched?

I also forwarded your message to Mesmerizes author especially because of the “somewhat unusual” statement of yours. But clearly he thinks this issue a problem of Autooptimize:

Unfortunately if the developer of the plugin has confirmed that it causes a conflict with our theme we can only recommend using a different optimization plugin to prevent this issue from happening. Thank you for your understanding.

Just for my own understanding, why do you think the way they implemented the background feature as unusual? How would you implement it?

On my installation the last Matomo-Update was started but DB-updates were pending. After letting the updater finish all is fine again.

Presumably it has got sth to do with the major update to v5.4?
