In reply to: [Platinum SEO] New version and i cant add featured image in postPlatinum SEO Pack never provided any interface for adding featured image as that is provided by WordPress already. So I don’t think your issue is related to this plugin. By the way, are you an existing user of an earlier version of this plugin or a new user?

In reply to: [Platinum SEO] Update brought total disasterso the issue is only in pulling up the description that you filled for older posts through the interface of the earlier version of the plugin. If this be the case, updating the post once will automatically resolve the problem. You don’t have to do anything else as the description is pulled correctly against the field “Meta Description” in the new Post Editor metabox interface titled “Techblissonline Platinum SEO and Social Meta Box”. All that is needed is to simply save the post once.
The plugin does not cache or work on a delayed basis. But I am debugging your issue in respect of Excerpt showing as Description. I would release a newer version sooner (today or tomorrow) in respect of a small javascript issue. That issue is totally unrelated to yours. Hopefully, I would also be able to debug and address your issue as well in that release.

In reply to: [Platinum SEO] Update brought total disasterI was all the while thinking that you had troubles with title because of what you said:
Then – o horror!!! – I see that all the title and descriptions disappeared :(:(:(
so I was suggesting you to check options like “Use Title Rewriter” and “Force Rewrite titles”. If you don’t have problems with titles, then you don’t need to do anything with these options.
So all you are saying now is the problem is only with meta description in the source code of the page and it is showing excerpt instead of what you filled in the “Description” field of the plugin’s older version.
But you also say that the description appears correctly in the Post editor of your Admin interface.
Why don’t you save the post once? And it will then show your meta description correctly.

In reply to: [Platinum SEO] Update brought total disaster1) Are you seeing titles for your existing posts?
2) Are you saying that you are seeing descriptions but they are shown from excerpt? If so, did you have the description filled in earlier against the older version’s description field in the plugin metabox? Can you switch to the default wordpress theme and check. Usually the problem occurs due to the theme. And yes, it is always advisable to run newer versions of PHP. If you are running an outdated version, it is a security risk.
I am not sure how you are running the older version of the plugin when it has been disabled from download on WordPress.
If you still cannot resolve, do send me an email. Let me know once you have sent me the email.

In reply to: [Platinum SEO] Update brought total disasterYou may also read the Platinum SEO plugin FAQs. If you are upgrading from older versions of the plugin or if you are using an old theme that does not support title-tag, it is essential to follow the FAQs. Make sure that after upgrading from the old plugin, that you deactivate and activate the plugin once.

In reply to: [Platinum SEO] Update brought total disasterfirst of all, do let me know your wordpress version. The plugin does not delete any of the old settings. But it uses new settings and as a fallback uses the old settings.
Make sure that “Use Title Rewriter” is checked in Platinum SEO and Social Pack->General settings. If you are using an old theme that does not support title-tag, then you may also have to ensure that “Force Rewrite Title” is checked in Platinum SEO and Social Pack->General settings.

In reply to: [Platinum SEO] [Plugin: Platinum SEO Pack] Disable for custom post types?I will include them in the next version.

In reply to: [Platinum SEO] [Plugin: Platinum SEO Pack] Need help with robot.txtOne need to make a robots.txt based on the site architecture (structure or layout). There cannot be an universal solution for this.
There is one more question that people as me – Why not include a sitemap so that all “noindex” post are not included in them. I do suggest to include them in your sitemap as it will then let the SE crawlers to crawl them. They would anyway not include them in their index as you have the noindex meta tag.But they will follow the links on the page.So it sn’t a good idea to exclude posts from sitemaps…

In reply to: [Platinum SEO] [Plugin: Platinum SEO Pack] Why no hooks? You were taking about “hardcode” into the TITLE tag that is overridden by the plugin and if you disable titie rewrite, why should that happen? Can you explain it?
“nofollow link to tag pages” means links to tag pages are nofollowed. You can add either index or noindex meta tag to the tag pages but all links are followed by default unless you nofollow any particular link at the link level.

In reply to: [Platinum SEO] [Plugin: Platinum SEO Pack] Why no hooks? There is an option to disable title format override for any post that you desire. So, it shouldn’t be a problem for single posts.
It already works for wordpress 3.0.1 Has released a new version 1.3.4 today.
