You can easily activate the slider by going to this page i.e https://your-site.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=techism_options (replace your-site.com with your own url ). Uncheck the button and check the category and number of post you want to show in slider. Then the slider will automatically fetch the featured images from the selected category.

Thanks for reporting the error. I have fixed this bug in the updated version of Techism theme. Sorry for inconvenience but you can also solve that issue by adding following lines of css in style.css file ??

.header-image {
width: 100%;
max-width: 100%;
}

Can you please further elaborate your question ? I have few doubts regarding your question.

1. Are you trying to remove the space between WP admin bar and the header image section ?
When I checked thoroughly the image occupies 100% width of the header section.

Further detail : Header image used in Techism theme doesn’t stretch up to full width i.e. The size of the header image will be same as your original image uploaded there.

Regarding your question, you can set up the thumbnail size showing in homepage through your-site.com/wp-admin/options-media.php . You can enter the custom size of your images there.
