The update seems to have fixed the SPAM issue. Thanks for the support Paul!
Hi Paul,
I’m getting a file not found error when I try to download the plugin from here:
I can’t imagine why the plugin would lose settings with an update either, but it seems to do that. I’ll see what happens this time!
Looking forward to the update. Thanks for the support!
What are you current spam filter settings?
GASP Protection, ticked
Default SPAM Action, Move to Trash
Comments Cooldown, 60
Comment Token Expire, 600
Human SPAM Filter, ticked
Comment Filter Items, all selected
Default SPAM Action, Move to TrashAlso, can you confirm your site setting for General > Discusion – “Allow people to post comments on new articles”
I have this box ticked.
More info: I use this on WP Multisite, and I’m having issues on just the one site (though to be fair, it’s the only site on the network that gets any traffic for the most part). I did notice that after updating, the Default SPAM Action settings were different than I’d set them before. They had both reverted to “Mark as Pending Moderation”. It is painful that the settings are not retained after updating. Even after I changed that to “Move to Trash” I have received apparent Human SPAM in my moderation queue that should have gone directly to the Trash.
Before updating, all spam comments were being handled as expected, and being sent directly to the Trash. The SPAM comments in Trash from before the update have “[* WordPress Simple Firewall plugin marked this comment as “trash”. Reason: Failed GASP Bot Filter Test (checkbox) *]” added to them, so I guess those are Bots and not humans?
In any case, still confused as to why I’m suddenly having issues after the updates. Thanks for the help!
Ha! That’s the issue then, the IP white listing. That would be why I could see everything only after setting my iPad to use the cellular data instead of my WiFi which would obviously use my IP address.
Again, sorry to send up the flare–even more so now that I’ve realized it was just me being dense and forgetting about the IP white listing.
So this is interesting:
I cleared the cache on my iPad and turned off the WiFi connection, and then visited the page. I now see the checkbox and when I loaded the page I saw the message on the comment button as well.
I’ve cleared the cache in IE and Firefox, yet still see nothing.
At this point, chalking this up to caching issues somewhere I guess!
Sorry to send up the flare–thanks for the quick response and help. ??
Oh I completely understand the issue with being logged in, which is why I tested it in another browser where I’m not logged in!
I usually use Firefox, so I’ve viewed the site in IE and Safari now, and still I am not seeing the checkbox or the message on the comment button. Further, I was just able to post a test comment to the page without waiting for the delay time to pass, or checking the box. I just checked the site on my iPad as well, and still nothing.
Not sure how to proceed!
I’m having the same issue. Please tell me what needs to be done in order to Ban IP addresses from my site iwth this plugin.

In reply to: [Lightbox Gallery] Not working correctly.. overlaps header. help!Actually, the Colorbox gallery loading type works fine, and the images are not behind the header, but neither the Lightbox nor the Highslide JS loading types work properly. Both display behind the header, though this may be a theme-specific issue. On my test site I’m using Twenty Eleven.

In reply to: [Lightbox Gallery] Not working correctly.. overlaps header. help!I’m having the same issue. The images open, but the top of the image is behind the header. Can anyone come up with a fix for this?
Okay thanks!
Okay, I figured out what I did wrong, but this installation method doesn’t seem to make sense to me anyway. Why would I want to use it as a global plugin if the Settings->Menu Editor is visible and usable by subsites in the network? The whole point (I thought) of installing it this way would be so that it would be invisible as well as unchangeable by anyone other than the Network Admin.
Will users other than the Network Admin be able to see the menu if I install it in the normal plugins directory and just Network Activate it?
There is no Settings->Menu Editor in any of the admin menus on any site. This is a brand new Multi Site install, and I deactivated every other addon but Akismet, and still no Settings->Menu Editor will appear.
