I have a similar issue. I changed the width of the sidebar and adjusted so content area could be bigger. Had to play with css – .right-sidebar #main, .right-sidebar #content and .right-sidebar #secondary for adjustments. Works well on pages but now margin not good on blog posts. Right border came back… frustrating!
