Nevermind. I cleared cookies — twice — and finally got in.

In reply to: [WP Email Users] Doesn’t completely uninstallIs there no way to completely uninstall this plugin?
Thank you for your reply. The problem is that the site in the subdirectory has a different “brand” than the main site.
I’m not hiding anything — what’s deceptive is to include the my site’s name in the page titles for the other site which is located in a subdirectory. They have nothing to do with each other.
The site in the subdirectory already has its own name in the titles. So, the current titles for that site are: Page Title –> Subdirectory Site Name –> My Site Name. That’s not right as they are separate sites, sharing only webspace.
My site is a large, current, thriving magazine with a large readership. The subdirectory site is a small, rather primitive html-based, long-archived (over 10 years) art site with a completely different owner. (Back in 2001 I just gave a friend some disk space to play with and that’s what he built.) It has nothing to do with my own site, yet my site’s name has recently appeared on his pages.
If there is some way to remove my site’s title from the other site’s pages, I’d sure like to do it.

In reply to: [Scriptless Social Sharing] adjust space between buttons? Thanks so much!
Thanks, Gerroald! The site dates back to 2012 and I’ve installed and uninstalled so many plugins over that time that very old tables are not a surprise. ?? I’ll go ahead and delete them after a backup. Denise

In reply to: “database needs to be updated” — catastrophic errorThanks, everyone, for your help! All is well now. I’ve also cleaned up the database (autoload options adjusted and tables left by old plugins removed) and now the site is working better than ever. Really appreciate your help.

In reply to: [Scriptless Social Sharing] adjust space between buttons? Thanks, Robin! That works, and is indeed a good start.
Now I need to figure out a way not to have the gap on the far left and right sides as well (since I’d like the buttons to span the width of the page).
Thanks again!
A little light went on right after I posted this.
What differentiates this category ( art) from others is that there’s no test on the page, just large images. I don’t always craft custom meta descriptions. But I typed a very basic one in for the post above, then revalidated the card at Twitter, and voila! — it’s now appearing correctly on Twitter.
Now I know, the lack of description makes a difference with how the card renders when using this plugin, so I’ll go back and make sure that every art post has a custom meta description.
Also, my site is so much faster with the SEO Framework. I’m loving this plugin.

In reply to: “database needs to be updated” — catastrophic errorDesignSmoke, thanks for the suggestion. My pages were not custom post types. Just a contact page, about, etc.
t-p, That’s interesting. I don’t usually get those sort of messages on my dashboard. And the message I got wasn’t on the dashboard — I couldn’t get to the dashboard until I clicked the link to update the database.
It is very strange.

In reply to: “database needs to be updated” — catastrophic errorI do have a backup, and I did just restore it. However, I’m still trying to figure out how this happened.
It is so strange. The content didn’t exactly disappear completely. But my pages were converted to posts, plugins deactivated, their settings were wiped, etc.
The “WordPress has updated; you need to update your database” message is a mystery. Is that normal? I’ve built many websites with WordPress over the past 10 years, and keep everything updated. There were no pending updates before this happened.
I’d like to know what went wrong here and what do do if I see such a warning in the future, as it is new to me.
