In reply to: Login/register widgetThere is something else that I don’t understand and left blank. Maybe that’s causing the problem: permalinks. In the settings there is one for login, register, and lost password.
do you think this may be causinga problem?

In reply to: Login/register widgetI’ve just gone through the routine of taking out Theme, putting back Meta, and taking this out ptoperly, but nothing has changed. I have redirected verubody to a third party’s link but it now comes back to the main login page. Strangely after logging in the Edit button shows up on other computers, which means the widget thinks they are the administator!
As for the Login/logout, dashboard and Profile going away after the redirect. they don’t because it does not obey the redirection.

In reply to: Login/register widgetDrag widgets from here to a sidebar on the right to activate them. Drag widgets back here to deactivate them and delete their settings.
Maybe the best is to remove Theme My Login, place the Meta back in the sidebar and then take it out by dragging it as I should have done, That hopefully delete their settings and I can start again with Theme Log In
What do you think?

In reply to: Login/register widgetI have just realized that I should have dragged the Meta widget out of the sidebar into the Inactive widgets area, rather than press the delete button. Maybe that’s where things started to go wrong.

In reply to: Login/register widgetThanks Lee
Now I don’t know what is a bookmark, but can’t i get in through the url? I would then be asked for the WP password. No?
The Meta widget is not in the sidebar. It was earlier on today but I deleted it fromt he sidebar and now it is sitting among the other available widgets. Do you mean that i should uninstall it altogether? Hiow do you do that?
Thank you for your patience

In reply to: Login/register widgetI think you are right. Earlier on I tried that one by putting it in the sidebar but then I deleted it. Do you think it is creating a problem with this new one. What can I do?

In reply to: Login/register widgetSorry Lee, but that terminology is still beyond me. I have not used any meta widget (tahta I know of). Where should I look?

In reply to: Login/register widgetI now managed to set things up so that another computer goes into the main page, even if I gave instructions to go elsewhere. The main problem is that the log in box, after logging in has a link for the dashboard. and if the visitor presses it he/she goes in!
I am going to delete the widget until I find out how I can get around it.
Do you use this widget in your own webpage?

In reply to: Login/register widgetHi again
Well. yes, I found what I needed, but no, it is no good, yet!
Working from other computers after registering and logging in I end up in the Dashboard!! Anyone registering can get into the castle!
I did update the settings to send the visitor to referrer (which is the last page he visited) The only thing I can think of is that I should go uninstall the widget and reinstall.
then, I have another problem: When you sign in a load of boxes come up on the side (to do with WP blogs I guess): Country; Recent Comments, Archives; Categories; Meta. How do I get rid of this foreved?

In reply to: Login/register widgetSorry to go on. I’ve installed but the result is not what I expected. I am looking for a login/register for visitors. This one, at the moment, is for me to log in and out.
can it be changed to do what i wanted?
The one in the link in my firdt post is ideal but I don’t know if it still works with the new version of WP
