Hi there, it appears that Akismet did mark the message as spam, but that message is added by the “Fast Secure Contact Form” plugin, which has sent the message despite being spam. I’m not entirely familiar with that plugin, but from looking through the code a bit, it appears there’s a setting in the plugin to ‘Tag as spam and send anyway’. Can you take a look in your plugin settings and see if you can switch that to ‘Block spam messages’?

We may have used the Jetpack plugin in the past, I don’t use it now. I would like to remove “jetpack_options” and cron. Can you tell me if the Akismet plugin uses Jetpack?

The Akismet plugin does not rely on Jetpack, so if you’ve removed the Jetpack plugin then I believe those tables and cron jobs should be safe to remove. It would be best to backup your database before doing that just to be safe though.

Deleting the Akismet directory and reinstalling would have been our recommendation as well. But if that didn’t help, there must be something more complex going on. Can you please contact us here with any additional details on errors you’re seeing when attempting that:

Hi there, that 403 error indicates that your hosting provider or web server is blocking access to that file. I’d recommend checking with your web host to see if there’s any reason that path might be blocked. Please let us know if you have any additional questions on the Akismet side of things.

Akismet does not currently protect WooCommerce checkout, but yes it can definitely help with comments and review spam.

We don’t have concrete plans to protect registration forms so we can’t currently share a time when that will be supported.

That’s correct, the Akismet plugin automatically checks for comment and contact form spam, but not user registrations or logins. However, we’ve published some helpful tips on dealing with user registration spam on our blog here:
