    hi Morgan,

thank you for taking on the Find My Blocks plugin, a feature that is sorely needed when utilizing WP blocks.

It seems a little premature to change my rating until the plugin is working. But I will be very glad to revise my plugin rating (assuming that is possible) after the plugin is updated.

I see that you’ve been working in the WP area for quite a while, so good luck and hope you can do it. As a retired SW developer, i know that maintaining someone else’s code can be a challenge! best wishes, -mj

    Hi @jpgoem,

thank you so much for telling me about the 3 places where I can set the “POSTS PER PAGE”. It doesn’t help my immediate problem, but it gives me ideas on how to solve some other issues.

Thanks for your help too, Gin. I try to stick to vanilla WP, because I am leery of what theme developers might stick into my database. I used to develop in FORTRAN, then COBOLish, a little C, and then Lotus Notes. Too bad I never learned php or CSS, but I’m too cognitive-limited ?? these days to pick those up, which I am sure would help with these problems. Oh well. -mj lee

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried editing the Index template, although the description says:

    Index

Used as a fallback template for all pages when a more specific template is not defined.

So I set the index template to a max of 18 posts per page and I set its inner “post template” to 6 columns as above. But I can’t find any search where this index template is used on my website

Thanks for the followup @rsouzaam, that’s certainly a relief. But because the Dreamhost CSR kept urging me to remove the plugin, I already did so and am trying to move on to something very simple like VS Contact Form.

    Hi @rsouzaam

This morning, I also got the same email from Dreamshield, the DreamHost Security Bot. I am in the process of changing all my passwords, but I’m not sure what to do about the .js file they are reporting. In addition to what @iammarchhare reported, the email says:

    • …/wp-content/plugins/wpforms-lite/assets/js/integrations/divi/formselector.es5.js
    • The existence of this known attacker content indicates that your website or user password has been compromised. You or a trusted webmaster will need to determine the attack vector and then take actions to mitigate further exploits:

How do we send you the system info?

FYI, I ran the CleanTalk plugin for the 7 day trial period, and I didn’t get any Contact spam. Over the last year, as I guess my site got to a certain level of hits/visibility, I have been getting 1-2 Contact spams per day. So I’m happy, and I signed up for a 3 year CleanTalk subscription at less than $10 per year.

    Hi @bcworkz,
thanks for your reply. I am not using custom post types, but I guess my problem is that the tag cloud is not showing tags with less than 7 posts. Funny that I never noticed this limitation before.

I’d like to show all tags, even if it is quite a large pile. So I decided to instead use the Cool Tag Cloud plugin to show all tags.

Thank you again for your help, and being so responsive as well.

    Hello @get_dave,
Thanks for the very lengthy reply. By the time I saw it, I had already made all the changes that I could within the current FSE. I continued to use Twenty-Twenty’s top menu and footer menus, and I guess I will migrate them to block-based after the Navigation block arrives and documentation is more abundant.

It was a little tricky to figure out how to use the Query Loop, but I managed. I was only able to use Query Loop for specific categories, but hopefully there will be an easier way to do this in the future. I would like to use a Query Loop block layout as a default for all Category and Tag views and the Search Result. Hopefully that’s in the works.

Thank you again for your time and all you are doing for the WP community.
    Cheers,

@zeevg On Dreamhost, my website is now on WP 5.8.1 and PHP 8.0 FastCGI. I no longer get the Site Health Status performance message about imagick. So I guess this problem is fixed?

    • This reply was modified 3 years, 1 month ago by MJ. Reason: added @zeevg

i just upgraded to WP 5.8 and now the Site Health Status screen says

“One or more recommended modules are missing – Performance
    – The optional module, imagick, is not installed, or has been disabled.”

I use a Dreamhost shared server running PHP 8.0, and Dreamhost told me
“We suggest you to change your PHP version to 7.4 as it includes Imagick.”

I see in the WP support forums that this imagick problem has been around for over 1 year. Should I downgrade to PHP 7.4 and hope this error goes away, or is the error too incidental to WP and I should just ignore it?

    Thank you for help,

    Hi @binarywc,
thank you for investigating that further; both of those suggestions worked.

I had not noticed the effect of the options under those 3 dots, but turning off the spotlight mode and turning off the top toolbar fixed both of my problems. Whew!

    thank you again!

    Hello @binarywc,
As I wrote above, I have been using Gutenberg as my WP editor since WP 5.0 core.

I know Gutenberg has had a lot of changes the last couple of updates, but this new greying out of other blocks in 5.5.1 is really unacceptable for me. So if you could get someone to look at this thread, I would be very thankful.

    Best wishes,

    Hello @binarywc,
Thank you for your reply! I don’t use the Gutenberg plugin and have been using Gutenberg as part of core for almost 2 years.

I installed the Enable JQuery Migrate Helper plugin, but it did not make any difference. All the blocks but the one with current focus are still greyed out, and the “+” icon still acts as I described.

BTW is there a more appropriate place to post WP core usability issues? I use the Twenty Seventeen theme and only a few plugins. I assume I should delete the plugin you recommended, right?

    Thank you,

Thanks again for your help and responsiveness. I know I’m probably a rare use case, but maybe someday you could consider changing your code to find the first referenced image, internal or external?

    Best wishes,

    Hi Martin,
thank you very much for your reply in these difficult times!

“Show post excerpt” displayed the first 150 characters of the post, but it did not help with the thumbnail. I am not using a 3rd party plugin for the thumbnails.

I put a post on my production website to show what is happening on my test database. I hope that explains my problem better.

Thank you again for your help!
