Hello @pwsean,
How is it going on your side? Do you need any help from us?
You’re right again, @pwsean. It’s not feasible to password protect your custom page template without touching the codes.
By the way, it’s almost 11 pm here in our office. If it still doesn’t work out, can you please drop us a support email to hello(@)preventdirectaccess.com?
We will get back to you early tomorrow morning.
Thanks again for your understanding, @pwsean.
@pwsean, thank for listening to us.
Yes, you’re absolutely right on the_content() vs custom templates. WordPress and our plugin only work on the_content() by default.
The good news is our plugin, even the Free version, allows you to password protect WordPress custom page templates and custom fields as well.
You will need to modify your page template slightly as per our tutorial.
Feel free to let us know if it’s too technical for you. We’ll be more than happy to help with the custom modification.
Hi @pwsean
Thanks for your feedback.
We believe there is a misunderstanding here. Our free version does support protecting (unlimited) WordPress pages and posts as per our attached screenshot:
https://ps.w.org/password-protect-page/assets/screenshot-1.png?rev=2050348Thousands of users are using the Free version of our plugin on their websites.
Can you give us a chance to help you, please @pwsean?

As for your question, may we know which version of our plugin you’re using?
What if you delete and re-install our plugin. Does the issue still happen?
So far, we’re unable to reproduce it on our side yet.

As for your question, yes you can hide the word “password” on the form.
There are 2 ways to do so:1. The complete solution would be customizing the password form and remove the Password label.
2. The easier workaround is simply hiding the label with CSS.
Here’s the CSS for your convenience and reference:
.post-password-form .label { display: none }We really appreciate your compliment and patience.
Please let us know if it works for you, @cyberlp23
