@aahan have you actually got this ‘new’ plugin working yet. I have just installed it, along with the latest update of WordPress SEO, and its still not working. Can’t see anything about News sitemaps in any of the admin page for WordPress SEO??

@esmi I am not interested in getting into a discussion on whether your right or wrong. I am just pointing out that the memory footprint should be checked out, more as a precaution for future development of the plugin.

You could be right, but surprising as we haven’t got anything too memory intensive installed. I Still think its worth looking into the JW Player Plugin memory footprint to check for potential issues.

I checked the logs and noticed a memory error:

“PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted”

I followed this guide to up the PHP memory limit on .htaccess:

Its hard to determine if this is an issue with your plugin… it did seem to resolve the problem once we disabled your plugin….

Worth looking into potential memory issues with your plugin for future versions?

Thinking more about this, a better option might be to have an option in your plugin to simply no-index sub-tag pages?

Therefore the first tag page is indexed, and subsequent tag pages would have noindex set. Then it wouldn’t matter that your subpages have duplicate meta/titles.

Thanks Joost. The only thing is though, if you set a specific title & description for a tag, then this title is duplicated on sub-pages, not using the %%page%% template set in the plugin options. Therefore the title is duplicated on all sub-pages.

We allow search engines to crawl and index our tag pages as this is a way we group our content. I might be useful if you could use the
%%page%% option when you actually set a specific title & description on an individual tag.

Or if you want to still use the plugin, you can change the “relatedness option” and select do not consider tags. This seems to speed up and prevent the page from crashing.

Great plugin, but hangs when there are lots of tags, or its a big post.

Will have to disable until their is a fix.
