This is limited not by wordpress but by your server configuration I think.

I think that won’t solve anything.
You have to now download the zip, extract it, and copy the files over the old ones. So you are offering to add file comparing to that process and I think that’s a performance killer. If for downloading you mean only the changed files, that is useful only for if you are constantly updating your nightly builds version.

try checking your htaccess file, if you changed it recently it might be the problem.
also try consulting your hosting provider, it might be a problem with the server.

Very nice site! Some observations:
– You can add “Search engine optimization” to the “standing out” list, it looks like there is just a spot for that. And since you use wordpress, performing SEO tasks will be a breeze ??
– I agree with the people here talking about some small colour enhancements. I don’t think you need to change the font colour, although it would be nice that headings would change accordingly to the dominating colours in your graphics. Also: try adding image hovers to footer icons, add hovers to the list (when mouse is over turn the tick green).

Nice job indeed. Looks great on 1900×1200. Pretentious, I would say.
Although, you could put some more work on the links hovering. Maybe it just me (no glasses here to btw :)) but when hovered, links seem blurry (especially black ones). ALso, you might want to look into some jquery effects for some smoother effects. Delayed, slow hovering might just work.
