In reply to: displaying short text for one categoryThanks. When I said I have a few sidebars, I meant I created them from the dashboard (using the WP Custom Sidebar plugin). I can’t find the relevant files.
The plugin is good for individual post/pages. It doesn’t really work for categories.
How would the sidebar-ads.php look like? Let’s say it’d only want text there(eg. <p>Some other custom text</p>). I opened the sidebar.php from the theme directory but I can’t say I understand much.
Thank you

In reply to: displaying short text for one categoryHi Christopher,
I didn’t see your post. Thanks. I’ll change it. One more question. How would I also add a custom sidebar to that conditional statement. I’ve got a few sidebars created.
Thank you.

In reply to: displaying short text for one categoryOk, After a few hours of playing with it I managed to do it in a child theme. I don’t know why the above didn’t work.

In reply to: custom sidebar per categoryI think I sorted it out. I found this post which sorted it out. I’m surprised thought that this is not a default behaviour. It makes so much sense (well at least for me, lol)

In reply to: custom sidebar per categoryI think it’s too early for me. I only partially understand what was written there. While I’m in the process of learning php and wordpress, I’m not there yet.
Instead I used “WordPress Custom Sidebar” – which requires me to manually create a custom sidebar and when a person creates a post, they can choose a sidebar from the left-hand side menu.
Now when I click on the main menu on a particular category, it correctly displays posts with that particular category (all with the same custom sidebar) and there’s the right sidebar on the right hand side. If, however, I click on one of those posts, the post gets displayed in the middle of the screen and there’s no sidebar at all. How can I preserve the sidebar on particular posts? I hope it makes sense what I’m talking about.thank you in advance.

In reply to: custom sidebar per categorySorry again. To a more appropriate category, eg. miscellaneous?

In reply to: Subscribers default login pageThanks a lot. Sorry for the bump – but if I hadn’t done it, I’d still be running in circles searching for wrong keywords:) Just joking. I’m not going to bump again.
