    Thanks @bruberries

I investigated further along this path and it turns out there was some sort of conflict with jetpack after the update… if I disabled either mailpoet or jetpack the website was fine – as soon as both were enabled it was max cpu and nothing would load. Naturally Jetpack lost but….

Now after the latest mailpoet update I have a new error that has disabled the plugin.
An error of tve E ERROR was caused in line 59 of the file /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/mailpoet/vendor-prefixed/doctrine/dbal/lib/Doctrine/DBAL/Dri ver/AbstractMySQLDriver. php . Any page with tabs – I thought there was another one as well but yes the settings page was where I first noticed it.

It did come alive the next day, not sure why it took so long after receiving the approval email.

When I said the dkim record, I mean when its set to own server for mail delivery there is a line that has spf and dkim which had a green checkmark next to it which said records present…. There were records present but not for the server itself – they were for my other email provider which was set up through wp-smtp. This lead me to believe it was going to use the config there to send since that was where the dkim record was for.
So where in the config for own server it says dkim and spf records present, it needs to check those records are correct for the settings provided and not just check they are there!
